Facebook Launches Events App As Standalone Product

The nearby parties are no long away from you. Facebook has come up with a dedicated app where you can search and browse for events.

Dubbed as Facebook Events, the app allows pulling in calendars from mobile device and help you check all your plans in one place, making easy to know when you are free and when not.

As of now Facebook has launched the app on Apple’s iOS mobile operating system and limited to users in the United States only. Soon the standalone app will be rolled out on Android devices later too.

With the Facebook Events users will not be forced to switch to other app like Facebook Messenger for the purpose. The next thing the social giant is working on is in the promotion part of it or at least to shortcut from its core app.

According to Facebook Events product manager Aditya Koolwal they have developed such app where people can really discover events as well as have a good time and the focus of the team is to know which features are working in order to grasp the best parts and feature those in Facebook.

Undoubtedly Events is the most unique and differentiated feature of Facebook where users can create profiles, share content and chat with others on hundreds of services. It can be said there is no real substitute for the app and so Facebook’s effort to make it a standalone app will make it more indispensable.

It is not to forget events help people make new friends and take more photos. This results with bolstering the Facebook network further. More to these, attending events creates memories.

Events was launched in 2005 and since then has grown steadily. It is one of the oldest features of the platform. However, in 2011 the social giant tried to recommend local happenings and the feature got neglected. Later, in 2014 it was redesigned and ramped up with high level recommendations. By 2015 the feature crossed the milestone of 450 million Events users.
