Fay and I loved "I Saw You" (we rated it a 5), and we both strongly hope you have included "Wordlessly Watching" and "Life Again" (pretty much as is) on THE CD! You are very intelligible (audible) on "Wordlessly" and its lyrics are terrificly sensitive and mystically moving across time. The orchestration of "I Saw You" renders its exquisite melody and the rare PHRASING (crescendo and dimuendo) of your inimitable (Mountain Man) "singing" an Ecstacy!! The lyrics of Ghost of Kerouac approach the greatest of pop-music pieces - The Sound of Silence, Where Have All The Flowers Gone, Down to the Moon, The Court of the Crimson King, Epitaph, Space Captain, The House of Four Doors - and equal In the Wake of Poseidon in veracity and relevance. They need to be heard clearly! gee . . . . thanks Gandalf . . . . but methinks you flatter me much to much.

As I've mentioned many times before, the point of a demo is to give you a simple, yet concise vision of the song. If you listen to demos of famous songs, it's easy to see how the final version unfolded from the roughness of the beginning. Here we see from Roger two textbook examples of how this is supposed to work. You can quite easily hear the finished songs in your head from the simple, straightforward directness of these two songs. Both stripped-down, but astonishingly full in their content, lyrical and musical. Very good work. In a better world, Roger would be famous and wealthy, and we would all be giving our eye teeth to write material like this. But in the real world, only the latter is true. mike (united kingdom)

Tortured Right from the start I found myself thinking- this sounds a lot like SOMEBODY- who is it? I first hit on Richie Havens- the husky, pained vocals and the guitar accompaniment sound a lot like him- even the phrasing. The half way through, the structure of the song and the vocal qualities started sounding a lot like Shawn Phillips- the detailed, personal lyrics full of unique images, they style of singing that occassionally raises from quiet introspective moods to a soaring high powerful moment. I hope this doesn't sound like I'm trying to pigeon-hole you, those similarities just popped into my mind- and they are intended as compliments. You have a unique voice, and you have learned to use it to its best advantage. The sound is dynamite- very emotional, introspective, yet you're still communicating with us. The verses were great- full of unique phrases telling a story everyone could relate to. I was suprised when the song ended though- I was expecting another verse or two! I hope you will keep working on this piece and add more to it- I'm just wanting to hear more! The mood is somber, inward looking. It draws us in- we want to understand what happened. I enjoyed this piece very much

08.04.2004 Anthony Marcus 02:52:38 "I Saw You" by holzra Remember when I told you folks that certian chord struictures and layouts (patterns) put a lump in my throat? Well yet another track on BeSonic has done as such (you guys are just making it harder for me to swallow food). "I Saw You" by holzra is one of those Saturday Morning tracks. The opening brings me into a mode of "Led Zeppelin III", and then a "Cat Stevens" like voice comes out of the speakers. Amazing, this artist has now a new "tender spot" for the D and Dsus chording sets. This brings a whole new beauty to such a simple chord. Bravo, holzra...(I was just wondering how that would sound on a 12 string, quite "angelic", don't you think?) My Grade for "I Saw You" by holzra...A Excellent track by and excellent songwriter.
