I think Cloud would beat Zidane since Cloud is actually a fighter whereas Zidane is a thief.

Quite a good point. Cloud was in Soldier, and he was infused with Mako. Plus Cloud Strife specialised in fightting, whereas Zidane was a thief to the bone.
But I guess with the coming of -Dissidia- Final Fantasy (if Cloud makes his appearence) we'll know who would win.

Zidane has probably got some good speed, but yeah in the end he would get a nasty introduction to the buster sword. I mean, when you're 15, and you kill Sephiroth (even if it was kind of a fluke) you've got some skill.

You're all forgetting something.
Kuja is by far stronger than Sephiroth because he destroyed a freaking planet in minutes where Sephiroth couldn't even do it in what, months?
And lets not forget that, spoiler, when Kuja dies, Zidane takes his power tenfold and becomes the strongest being in existance.
So he'd literally swat Cloud and his little "omnislash" away if they got in a fight.
Oh, and since Kefka is the god of magic, he/she'd win over most other people in a one on one fight. I mean, it took 16 people in order to kill him.
