Your top 3 characters?
Yes, there might have been threads like this before, yet I have to say this myself-we all have our top 3 characters if not even more. In my party, I decided that everyone would be at equal levels, but when choosing the advance grid second time I played the game, I actually had 3 stronger characters than any other characters in my team. I have chosen Wakka for his accuracy, Kimahri for his combination of skills and Lulu, of course for her magic, what else could be the reason?
What about you, what were your top 3 characters in your party?

I liked Auron because most of his weapons had piercing and once you built his agility up he was pretty awesome, Wakka for ranged attacks, and Lulu because her magic is useful against almost any enemy. Occasionally I would use Rikku because she was good against machina.

I don’t have favorite three characters to use in the battles of FFX generally; since all the characters can learn any ability, especially near the ending of the game since all of the characters have gained enough AP to have most of the abilities in the Sphere Grid. And I usually use all of them in every battle, even boss battles since I want them all to gain AP. However, the most ones I consider useful in battles, in the beginning of the game in practical, are Auron, Lulu, Rikku and Tidus. Auron and Tidus can both cause a good amount of damage to antagonists by attack and both have different abilities in the beginning. Lulu obviously for her magic and I depend on magic a lot in every Final Fantasy game. Rikku for her “use” ability (I think that what it’s called) and “steal”, she was really useful in the middle of the game.

My top two, at any rate, were Yuna and Tidus. My good thirds were a tie between Auron, Wakka and Rikku. I stopped using Lulu as much when Yuna learned Black Magic. She wasn't really needed.

I usually rotate my characters through battles, but I prefer to use Auron, Lulu and Wakka.
Auron for strength, Lulu for magic, Wakka for speed/anti-air.

Kimahri is terrible in battles, at least it my case.
The main problem is the damage he causes in his attacks; they are so weak compared to the others in all of the game's chapters. I tried changing his weapon many times, increased his ability to do greater damage... but does it work? No. I finally just gave up on him.
His skills aren't powerful enough or good enough as well...
And even after teaching him some of the important abilities; when he uses them they don't cause that much of damage.

Kimahri can be useful in the early parts of the game if you train him right. He can potentially be an all round powerhouse without doing any extreme levelling (AP trick etc). You don't want him too strong before Gagazet though (the battle vs the ronsos have stats relative to Kimahri's). If he has steal though, he can steal a pile of lvl 3 key spheres in the aforementioned battle.

Kimahri's pros are that you can move him to any grid right away. However, he will always be behind whichever character's grid you moved him to, so in a sense he's rather a weak character. Though Lancet is a good ability, it doesn't save him. I moved him through several grids and he just was never up to par.

my ideal party would be tidus/wakka, auron and rikku
Tidus for his speed and time magic he has decent attack power and hp
Wakka for his speed and status abilities he has high hp deals quite a lot of damage
Auron for obvious reasons, mega tank
and Rikku for 'use' mainly some of those items you get are ridiculously powerful i also train Kimahri to do this job for before you get Rikku and in case Rikku is indisposed
I dont tend to use lulu much because she just dies too easily and i only train up yuna to do the summoner battles and as i said kimahri is really a backup for rikku

Wakka for high hp, strength, and accuracy
Auron for high strength and hp early in game and peircing weapons
Lulu for magic and her evasion also her focus and reflex are very good specials
