Xenogears
soo... this is a square game but goesnt ahve its own topic i dont think so here we go...
i got this finally after searching and searching and im pretty excited to play it. i hear its top notch and a decent amount of game to it being as its 2 discs even back in 1997.
anyone play this game and can you tell me how great it is? lol.
no idea when im gonna start it. i have so much other crap to do these days but who knows. it could be a long night lol.

oh how i love this game
i thought it was better than ff7 personally
the story may be a bit convaluted, but it is still top notch
the charaters r dynamic & likeable
the music is spell-binding
the art direction is 90s anime quality
& it is not too easy like so many other rpgs
iz a shame the franchise went down n quality with bandai/namco

There are 4 games in the series right? And this, from what I've heard and read, is one of the better RPG series out today.

well... tecknically i guess, its been said that yes their are many similar things in xenogears and the 3 xenosaga games as in character references and its the same... universe i guess. but the producers of it said the games arent directly sequals... weird but yeah.
and yes, xenogears is better than all the xenosaga games easily.

nah i keep an eye on ebay. but even in the shops the xenogears and xenosaga collection were expensive. so i was gonna download the PSX version but my comp crashed and after that i couldn't be assed. i was even going to play valkyrie profile 1 on psx and then buy 2 for the ps2.
but now i ain't got time so i have to wait till the summer holidays.

Xenogears was released together with FFVIII actually, but not sure if it entered the US gaming market. My opinion on this game? Absolute great game, the plot is exciting - great character building story, fair amount of twist and turns and great concept (futuristic Adam & Eve).
They have pretty cool BGMs too. Bout the graphics, its just like a standard ps1 quality for the world map and battles but the cinematic CGIs and movies are displayed in either 3D or anime style which is pretty cool.
I also liked the battle system, its a hit combo battle system. Conserve your APs well and you can perform deadly combos to win.
One tip from me before you play the game: There are a few battles like you're fated to lose or most likely impossibe for you to win, so just save your recovery items and don't push yourself too far into winning (like I did when I first played the game lol!). But bewarn, only a few battles in the game...
My overall ratings for this game is: 8/10 (fair rating considering its graphic weakness thats all)

I can honestly say that Xenogears was a phenomenal game. The story was a bit hard to grab at in the beginning with the dying space craft and then starting the game supposedly a whole lot of years later, but the character developments this game had was done excellently. What other game has a hero thats a schizophrenic? Plus the battle system I thought was really interesting. It gave you more control over how you want the battle to be played out. As for the Xenosaga series, I am upset that they killed the project so early because I was barely able to find the reference between both games.
On the other side of the spectrum, I was disappointed by the last disc story-teller mode. It destroyed the aspect of exploring the altered surrounding and all you ended up with was reading the plot you could've been witnessing. There was almost none of that shock element that a lot of gamers had hope to receive.
But all in all I'd say the game is great enough I must've beaten it at least 10 times already.

ive played enough to know i lkied it but never got to the second disc. then time passed and i picked up later but forgot everything i ever played. now i just cant get the time to start voer again otherwise the same thing will happen. not to mention all the new games coming out now. but at least i own it.
