Xbox360 Copying Wii
The 360 on Dec.4 is going to let people download old xbox games do they have any ideas not from other companys?

Hmm, i think its technology that will eventually be understandable through every console, to be fair, the Wii did have it first. And i'm pretty certain not many people will be complaining as most people have several consoles. I think being able to download previous console games is a step further in technology and should be appreciated. You make a fair point though.

depends on which ones, some of the earlier xbox games were no bigger than 600mb.
as to whether or not the 360 is "copying" the Wii is irrelevant, and i sure don't look upon it as a bad thing.
Xbox is just giving its consumers what they want, options. and technically since xbox was the first to allow game downloads from the console as well as movies you could argue that the Wii is copying them.

did everyone copy the dvd? no it just became a new standard for distribution. im sure they are doing it differently and honestly, xbox games arent old. you can get them. you can go out buy them and hold them. thats a lot harder to do with the ones coming out on the wii.
being backwards compatible fully would have made a lot more sense (like the wii playing gamecube games) but of course, we would have said that was copying them too right? lol.

Seifer's comment about DVDs allows me to bring up the point about how blu-ray DVD's are no better in quality then Hi-Def. They're just more expensive and with a quality increase of between 0.01% and 2.5%.
More on topic, why bother letting people download Xbox games on a 360. You can still walk into shops and buy them since they still run on a 360. You can't with SNES games (some shops still sell them but they're so old that it's hard to get them). With the Wii it makes sense because it's got the Atari and things for downloads as well and since Nintendo have been running for much longer so they've made more consoles and games it seems a good idea.

i think the only difference is size capacity right? which doesnt even come into effect for movies, only on the blu ray size for ps3 games.
please correct me if im wrong though. dont know to much about it.

pretty much.
the main benefit of Blu-Ray and HD-DvD is that they have completely removed the need for multiple discs... permenantly. all Blu-ray and HD-DvD players can play various layered discs, meaning rather than making your Friends Season 4 have 3 HD-DvD discs, it can rather just be on a single triple layer disc.
mind you Triple layer discs of either format are insanely expensive. but the idea is strong. if DvD had this as a standard from the begining im almost positive that the consoles would be even MORE than adiquate with just a dvd drive (quad-layer DvD==HD-DvD, course quadlayer DvDs dont exist.......)
