W.o.W. questions
I got addicted not because the game is so nice which it is but because my younger brother is playing it and I want to kick his *** with a better character don't know its a big brother thing . So I gathered some questions.
1. I have a warrior char. and I am getting kicked in duels im sick of it. They always make that fear thing on me and I just run and they shoot at me. when I get to the guy again he does it again till im defeted!
2. Which is better using a shield and a main hand weapon with like a 30% decrease in weapons damage! cuz I feel the shield just increase my armor by say 30% and from 300 thats only 90!
3. Two hand weapon or one hand ! im really confused cause I notice two hand does a better job like two hand 20 damage is better than one hand 15 and 16 on the other don't know why ! is it just me
4. Im thinking of buying the update and getting a Paladin since things arunt working out with the warrior. and with the paladin I can heal my self in battle which people do to defeat me ?
5. I heard paladins cant use bow or shoot gun and I didn't see it in the booklet so is that true!
6. I saw one guy advertising 40$ for 1000 Gold on a site is that true? (If I cant beat him in battle minds well beat him with money )
7. Warriors dont have much talents is that true or will I get good stuff as my lvl gees up (lvl 26)?
8. If I buy the update can I install it on my computer and my brothers too or would that be illegal!
Edit:
9. Can I talk with an alliance member or he doesn't see what im saying ?(im horde)

I don't play WOW, but some general advice I will give.
Shield is only useful for usual use, ie if you don't know what is coming. If you're often in fights then a 2-hander will be more useful, provided you have good armour and a good base defence.
And if you buy an update chances are you'll only have one copy. And yes, you're only allowed one copy.
I'm not sure that real-life trading of money for gold would be allowed. You'll need to ask someone else about that though, but in my view that sort of trade is risky.

Fear... dude you are fairly screwed, Warlocks are the 1v1 PVP kings.... you dont have many choices... your best shot would be with a hunter. but fear is the ruler.

shield doesnt help you from magic attacks, you are going to want to focus on maximum damage so duelwield if you can.
Zemfik wrote:

Duelwield

paladins are good, and very durable, im going to guess you are horde from your thinking that you need a patch to play a paladin.
Zemfik wrote:
5. I heard paladins cant use bow or shoot gun and I didn't see it in the booklet so is that true!
yup, no ranged. there are some magical items that will give you an attack (like links boomerang, yah its in the game) but thats level 40 and mostly used for pulling creatures.
Zemfik wrote:
6. I saw one guy advertising 40$ for 1000 Gold on a site is that true? (If I cant beat him in battle minds well beat him with money )
dont waste your money. its against the TOS to buy gold from a website, and you can have your account banned for doing so. and even having money will only help you a little.
Zemfik wrote:
7. Warriors dont have much talents is that true or will I get good stuff as my lvl gees up (lvl 26)?
same amount of talents, they are fine, they used to suck, but recent patches fixed them.
Zemfik wrote:
8. If I buy the update can I install it on my computer and my brothers too or would that be illegal!
your getting it wrong, when you buy the Expansion pack, you are not buying the disc, you are buying the CD key which upgrades your account. meaning that you can have Burning crusade installed on your computer, but if you are playing on an account that dident upgrade then the expansion's content is locked and unavailable. meaning that if you buy it, the expansion will work for you on any comptuer with the expanison installed, if you dont then you can only play plain WoW even if the expansion is installed.
Edit:

he sees jibberish, your words are scrambled, so no, you cannot talk to the alliance.

1. Yea fear is bogus but if you want to be the class to beat it stick to the warr, by lvl 40 fear = that funny spell that does nothing to you, to a warr.
2. Like Thorlord said, duel wielding is the bomb, especially against clothies like the warlocks(the ones with fear) and id suggest swords, their very well rounded balanced weapons the produce really decent dps and hit plenty fast enough to generate all the rage you'll ever need.
3. Once again duel wielding ftw, by far more dps than 2H and obviously more than a shield.
4. Pallys are meh for the most part, yes they can heal themselves and others but they, like other caster classes, run out of mana, in which case your pretty much hosed.
5. yes pallys have NO ranged things.
6. Gold buying is against TOS and can get you banned.
7. Bogus, while warrs have less spells they tend to be ones you would use over and over and over again, besides beating your opponent into the ground is always fun
8. yes you can install it on the other computer but you cant upgrade his account with the some code that you use to upgrade yours, in other words you have to buy another one (gay) because blizz is money hungry even tho them make 10 mill a month from cutomers
9. no, once again like Thorlord said, if you say "Hi" they see "Ba" and if you say "holy crap its a dragon" they see "bron fans tro i fabnak" so no, you cant lol

1. I have a warrior char. and I am getting kicked in duels im sick of it. They always make that fear thing on me and I just run and they shoot at me. when I get to the guy again he does it again till im defeted!
Answer: You're a warrior. I have a warrior in S4/Naxx gear. Warrior's dominate EVERYTHING in the game. To avoid chain fears use "Beserker's Rage" and "Deathwish" they make you immune for up to 1minute and 1 secs if used correctly.
2. Which is better using a shield and a main hand weapon with like a 30% decrease in weapons damage! cuz I feel the shield just increase my armor by say 30% and from 300 thats only 90!
Answer: Protection DPS and PvP is common now, unlike back 4 years ago. Now I have seen people with a Main Hand and Shield DPS for over 3k. Instant attacks are modified by attack speed. the slower your weapon speed the more damage your mortal strike, bloodthirst, revenge, etc will do.
3. Two hand weapon or one hand ! im really confused cause I notice two hand does a better job like two hand 20 damage is better than one hand 15 and 16 on the other don't know why ! is it just me
Answer: Once agan. the slower the weapon the more damage you will do with instant attacks.
Answer: NEVER buy WoW Gold form websites. it's either a scam or they are going to take your bank details.
7. Warriors dont have much talents is that true or will I get good stuff as my lvl gees up (lvl 26)?
Answer: You get A LOT stronger as you level up. Trust me
8. If I buy the update can I install it on my computer and my brothers too or would that be illegal!
Answer: No, you can do that.
Edit:
9. Can I talk with an alliance member or he doesn't see what im saying ?(im horde)
Answer: He doesn't understand what on earth you can say

Ok, I don't play WoW, and I refuse to, but I was curious about the topic..
And now I am REALLY curious about something else..
So hordes and aliances can't communicate with eachother? They see scrambled words/letters?
What if you typed in scrambled words/letters? Would they come out actual words? =P

it used to work like that.
the encoding was a caesar and just shifted letters a few digits in certian directions.
now they are using something MUCH more complex. if its even still encoded, it is more than likely just scrambled.
in beta, somone made a mod that translated the scrambled text from the horde.
of course if you were undead you didnt need it. as you could speak common.
they changed it later so that undead spoke gutteral or something. but in beta they were the only race that could talk to the other faction on purpose.
man that was cool.

XD Well no matter how it's encoded, if you just type in the same random letters OR you just type in similar scrambled sentences, they'll eventually put a word or two together. =P
And that seems kinda mean.. That's like "Good VS Evil" and one side going "hey, wanna be friends and end this dispute?" And God said "We can't allow friends! *Curses them* Now they'll only speak gibberish and forced to fight an eternal battle, never to know true peace! mauhahaha!"

The chat still is encoded somehow, and its not at all randomized.
If a Horde character says "lol" around an Alliance character, it comes out "kek" every time, but not if it is within a word so "olol" would come out something completely different.
and "lol" coming from an Alliance character, to a Horde character it would read "bur"
I've tried researching it multiple times but nobody seems to know how it works
however I have seen a few phrases that people know work that they like to spam like "I LO VE U" and the like, it's kindof humorous actually.
And actually the races speaking different languages for the most part makes a lot of sense, orcs speak nothing like humans would, and apparently nobody on the planet (not even those crazy gadget building gnomes) can figure out how to translate any of it...

Oh.. What if you say "kek" then? Comes out another random thing? XD
And ah, well that makes sense, but if a Zombie/Undead and a Human talk.. they should speak the same language. -.- Or Elf's and Humans.. ect..
But then again maybe they share the same alliance.. I've never played WoW.. Not sure if it's worth the money.

yea, "kek" will also come out as something else thats random.
And as to whether or not it's worth it depends on how much time you're willing to invest in it. Think about this for a minute, the price of an average new release game is $50-$60 (not sure how much they are outside the US). A game takes approximately two weeks to beat (dependent upon how often you game). Assuming also that you want to keep yourself entertained without playing the same game over and over, and assuming you don't have a nice little place where you can trade games in, that's about $100-$120 per month, that's a lot of freaking money to be spending on games... Whereas WoW costs $15 per month, regardless of how often you play, and has enough content to keep you entertained for about as long as your patience will allow (you know, some of it can feel really repetitive sometimes, like grinding for 5 hours for one freakin' level (which for the most part has been fixed through patches by now)).
Again, it really depends on the person, but if you can take it, the game can save you a bit of money. My parents pay for my account, and I can guarantee you they're spending less money on me than ever before (excluding the fact that I eat a lot of freaking food XD)
Now, I'm not trying to sell this stuff to you, so I will point out the major downsides the game has.
As stated above, repetitiveness is huge, but then again, in what MMO is it not?
getting started costs quite a bit, so you better be sure you want to stick to it once you start, there is however free 10 day trials so you can get a feel for it before committing, but again, dependent on how often you play, 10 days might not be long enough.
Another thing, and again, this can probably be applied to just about any online game EVER, you can run into people in the game that are just plain not very nice... You get the idea, there are plenty of over the top egotistical snot heads that will rub their so called "experience" in the game in your face, refuse to help you with anything, and harass you every chance they get, but that's what the ignore list is for...
One of the other downsides to the game is that Blizzard can, for the most part, nerf your class into the ground at will with patches, which BTW must be downloaded and installed to even play the game, so no you cant just not download it... but again, I'm sure this is true for 99% of other MMOs out there.
The other issue I run into is that sometimes you'll know people in real life that play the game, and you'd rather play with them right? yea... well getting onto the same realm as them isn't hard, but catching up to their level is nigh impossible and you'll probably just find somebody else that plays on a different realm and the next thing you know there's like 15 people on different realms asking you to join theirs >.>
Another thing is PvP realms... yea my advice on this is as follows: You have two choices, the nice realm where you can level up easier and don't have to deal with the opposite faction outside of battlegrounds for the most part, or the brutally bleeding out your eye sockets because you can't even revive because there's a player of the opposite faction, who happens to be such a higher level than you that he can kill you by poking you, who likes to stand around waiting for you to come back so he can kill you yet again, meaning you get to log off and come back in two hours in hopes that he's gone... realm.
I just love ranting about how inconsiderate and evil human beings can be...

Lol, please do rant. ^.^ I love player reviews because they seem more real than some random company with "Gamer" in their name saying how it's "Riveting" or "Best game of the year!" like.. that tells me nothing! >.<
And yeah, repativeness is always a case in MMO's.. I do have a few questions though.. If you don't mind that is..
1. How customizable are characters? There are some MMO's that have the same armor availble for every level.. Level 20 warriors will look like every other level 20 warrior you run into.. Sometimes with MMO's you can use real money to get "Outfits" or something similar, but then you'll just look like that no matter if you're level 1 or 100.. However there are games like Ultima Online (Free shards. =P) Where EVERY little piece of equipment changes your looks.. Hats, Leggings, Arms, gloves, shoes/boots, sash's, cloaks, robes, ect.. To top it off, there are dyes to change color, =P Is there a variety of types of weapons and armors for each level? And are there random stats or pre-set? (Such as sometimes Artifacts or Rares will be the same as everyone else's.. or like Diablo where they can be sorta random)
2. What's the max level? Guild Wars turned me off by having the max level of a measly 20... There are some MMO's that don't have a cap, they just don't have monsters that high enough to gain exp, so you may only gain .001% exp per kill.
3. Skills.. Some games (Like Flyff for example) Every class has the same, VERY few skills.. So PVP gets boring.. Or there are some where there are insane amount and you could spend an hour just looking at which ones you want to aim for..
4. Gaining skills.. Ultima Online, the more you use a skill, the more it grows.. Flyff has each level you get skill points you can spend..
5. Class's/Races.. Are they evened out? Or is one just the best to use?
I have other questions but those are my major ones to see if I even consider downloading it and getting the free trial. XD
Oh, and that's a side note.. I rarely buy new games anymore. (Mostly because the last 3 I bought I haven't played much.. >.>) I like free MMORPG's.. and there's always Torrents. >.> And Roms! XD

Hmm... sorry for the late response, I've just been busy with life oriented stuff recently... Frickin' life and its constant problems >.>
anywho, here we go...
Orothe wrote:

This. Except for the following items: Rings, Trinkets, and Necklaces. However, a lot of the weapons and armor are very similar looking, you can tell the difference if you look hard enough, but you can tell that they kind of slack off on the weapon skins.
Orothe wrote:

You, unfortunately, are unable to change the color of equipment, unless its certain kinds of crafted equipment in which case the color is chosen upon crafting of the item, and this can also sometimes affect the stats of the item in question. There are both random and preset equipment in the game. Any legendarys or epics are usually preset, but most anything that you pick up off of a regular foe, discernible in that they have no actual name, but are called something like "Scarlet Warrior." The way they do randomized stats is pretty cool actually. There are different kinds of equipment that are named by their traits, ex. [Simple Axe of the Wolf] would have agility and strength because it is "of the wolf" and any other equipment that is "of the wolf" will have agility and strength. The values of said stats are of course based on the item level, so if you get it off of a level 10 creature, it will be suited for a level 8-12 player.
This system is handy in that, if you know what your looking for in equipment, you can tell on the spot whether a random drop is something your interested in based on the name, for instance as a warrior anything that goes by "of the eagle" is probably not something I'm terribly interested in, due to the fact that eagle is intellect and stamina, and intellect is wasted upon warriors so of the eagle would be inappropriate, and I am capable of knowing this by simply glancing at the name.

With the reacent release of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, the level cap has been raised to 80, and believe me, with how quickly the exp required to level stacks up, getting to 80 can be tough.

This is really dependent upon the class you play, most classes have enough skills that there will be ones you never even think about because you don't use them on a regular basis. The game gives you 5 bars, each holding 12 buttons, and if you play a mage, and get up to about level 65, you will have too many spells to fit on those 60 buttons. So in a matter of speaking yes, indecisiveness can easily kill a player in PvP.

Any of the base skills, aka most of the skills your character will know, are trainable at their required level, with no other requirements. However, the talent system allows you to focus on a specific type of skill that your class uses, which allows you to make certain skills work better, longer, or even more often. Also there are a few skills you can learn within your specialty that only those in the same specialty will be able to learn, so no one rogue can learn every single rogue ability, however all rogues will learn a good 85% of all the rogue abilities.

5. Class's/Races.. Are they evened out? Or is one just the best to use?
This is an often debated, and for the most part ever changing thing in game, there are people who believe that a certain class has an edge over all the others, and most of these people have some valid points behind their arguments, however Blizzard Entertainment does attempt to keep the classes balanced, and they administer fixes to things they deem to be to powerful or too weak. Not every player has faith in their decisions, but they do still happen. At the current time I'm sure if you asked a random player what the most powerful class is, odds are they would tell you that the Death Knights, the newest class to the game and the only class that has be added since the initial release of the game, are the most powerful class.

I hear ya there, I'm not to big into the free MMOs, but it could just be because my expectations are too high for them... but yes, there's so much great stuff you can find on the internet for free.
