But, then again, the closest I could probably get right now is my one day a week when myself and some friends hold our Amtgard fights out in the park...and that's not too bad...but it'd be nice to fight real monsters, instead of us taking turns playing the part

What would happen if we live in Final Fantasy world:
1. If you meet someone you hate at the streets, you prepare yourself in attack stance and sing the battle song - all the surrounding people gone all of sudden. A good way to clear traffic jams on the streets by the way.
2. The sign KFC still remains the same but the meaning changed:
Kentucky Fried Chocobo
3. Pet dogs will be sprayed/dyed and tattooed number 13. They're called Nanaki.
4. No more Euro,pound,yen,etc. All money currency will be in gil or zeny.
5. Saloon shops will make more profit than other shops - high demand of spiky hair 2 feet high.
6. There would be new gangs in schools with names like 'Turks', 'Avalanche','Advent children'.
7. There won't be electricity but Mako Reactors will provide you with ultra super fast safe reliable energy source.
8. No more companies like Sony Ericsson,Nokia,Motorola,etc...all mobile companies bankrupt when PHS is introduced.
9. Most of all....nobody dies in Final Fantasy world...as long as there's Phoenix Down. +_+
(exception for those killed by Sephiroth's blade)

I was mentioning about death/unconciousness as a result of battle or accident, not the death caused by natural law of life where everyone dies after their time has come. The reason Aeris died in FF7 is actually cause of the story-line not cause of Sephiroth's blade effect - he stabbed Cloud and slashed Tifa remember.
The actual meaning of Phoenix down is not only for recovering unconcious member but the also the bring back life of a fallen warrior. The word Phoenix itself means 'life' or 'reborn'. There're three types of Death in FF, story death, artificial Death (the spell of Reaper), and natural death (time comes everyone will die).
If Phoenix Down can be used to cure natural death - the world would end lol. Would result of overpopulation, lacking of space and resources, serious competitions (food-lack of resource,living space,etc).
See how serious it would be if we live in Final Fantasy world. Its not simple, adapting to a fantasy world created for merely entertainment is not as simple as that. 
Imagine you're walking in the park or having a picnic, then you took two steps on the beach or park - suddenly random battle comes on LOL! That would be hilarious but also spoils your fun - you'll be fighting monsters with bikini and swimsuits.

id love to have the chance to live in a final fantasy world but i would try to stop both sides of winning or losing like when cloud and sephiroth went to fite i would hope in at the end and like be the 1 to kill sephiroth or in ff8 ultimecia though im not sure how i would get into the ultimecia world if im in the present. :p
