WHY?
I was walking up from the beginning castle, and i fought this turtle who killed me in 1 hit! Why are the enemies so hard up there? I was just lookin around to see!

If I think I know which boss it is... Try casting "Break" on it. If I'm thinking of the same boss, Break will automatically kill it.

Wait, i think he is talking about the Whelk.
If you are, you probably attacked his shell and forgot to heal your characters with Heal Force. If you attack his shell, he counterattacks with a strong attack that hits all the characters. You need to hit the Whelk's head. I probably don't have to tell how to switch between targets.
I recommend using Fire Beam with Vicks and Wedge, and let Terra use Tekmissle. After a while, the Whelk's head will dissapear. Still don't attack the shell, and wait until his head returns. This should do the trick.
If the Whelk didn't was the boss that you were talking about, feel free to call me a dumbass
