Turn-based games make you think more, I find, and that turns many people off the game. But not real gamers like us, games should be about thinking, stradegy, not mindless killing. They should be like a good book, just draw you in and allow you to sink away from the world around you, eh?
I dunno, it gives you more time to think about your next action, not have to make up strategies in a matter of microseconds :/ Not saying turn-based is bad, just gives you a little more time to think

No but pause does not change anything. In FFX the boss would wobble about looking ominous as you decided what move you'd make. True, it probably doesn't reflect the fact that time limits should exist but its funny.
Turn based is good but I like the fact that XII did try something new with it....even if they messed up...and added a system that just lets you arrange gambits and just walk around...okay they couldn't have missed the point of fun entirely if they fired in the air and the point was in an entirely different country altogether >.>
