The Revolution sounded cool. If it were called that I'm sure it would be a hit. WHAT ON EARTH IS A WII?
By the way what's up with japan and double i's? Nissan replaced the best-selling Pulsar with a stupid Tiida. Wii isn't even a word. Some could say Playstation or Xbox isn't either, but atleast they make sense. Xbox is a box with an X on it, and a playstation is a station that lets you play, lol. But Wii? They need at least two syllables here for it to make any sense or else no one will get it and keep taking the piss out of the wii.
Ok original names are sometimes good, but not when they consist of two letters, one syllable and sounds like something you do when you go to the toilet!
edit: lol! Some sites have already begun making fun of the stupid name, gamespot for example have a story titled "Madden rushing to Wii".

The "X" in Xbox stands for DirectX, but they shortened the title to Xbox. I am not really a fan of that name either. "Game" cube and "Play" station these names are related to gaming. DirectXBox? Nah.

i always thought it was more with microsofts love for the letter x.
its why they name EVERYTHING with an X in it.

it was a fad in the late ninties to have an X in your product/company name to make it sound "furuistic" or "advanced"

i take my vote back.. wii is MUCH better than revolution.
its short
you cant abbriviate it
its funny
you cant forget it
it is easily remembered
its funny
its not only a thing, but an action
it can be put in other words (wiimote, a wii little problem, wii are awesome)
its DAMN funny
it fits perty much anywhere (they have to shorten Playstation three to PS3 to make it fit on the console)
wii describes the console well, its short, small, yet has tons-o-meaning
wii is different, no other company has the balls to call their product the wii.
