I would have to say FF8 for the story, and FF7 for the gameplay. I haven't played any of the ones after 9 though.

I prefare FF2, but to be truely honest that's just because it's portable and better than FF1.
If it wan't that I have to go around so much then my fave FF would be 7.

first i played as well and by far the best one, damn i already said that didn't i, oh well. but ff7 was sweet, rite now i'm lookin through the strategy guide for things i never knew
