Most definetly FF7. It just seemd to be the most compelling of them. FF2 was very good as well. (our 2, not the Jap version.)

To be blunt: There is no best story, there is only opinion.
In my opinion Tactics had the best, but I liked VI's more.
7 comes in a distant.. lesse..
T, VI, VII, IX, III, IV, VII, X, II, V, I
7th.. ironic.

I don't think there is a best because most of them are great, although I can definitely say that I liked X-2 the least out of all of them.
