What is wrong with my ff7?

I was playing FF7, had to reset, come to play again and it just won't work!

It loads the "Playstation Liscensed by.. blah blah blah" and goes no further... worse still I hear an odd clicking sound!

My ps2 will run other games (both ps2 and ps1) and I have even tried other disks of ff7 so its not just disk 2, and they're all free of scratches and things.. soooooo what the hell is wrong with it any ideas?

Well at first it was just all 3 ff7 disks.. it now happens to all ps1 games...

I'm thinking that cd reader is damaged.
DVD's and ps2 games work fine (and ps2 games ARE dvds) so the dvd reader is fine.

Tell me if I am just chatting rubbish there.. :p

How can I transfer a savedgame from a memory card to my pc if I were to use a psx emulator?

Do you have a new, slim or a old, big PS2?

If you've had it a couple of years, it's probably not the disk, because mine did this and eventually wouldn't read any game..................but if you think it's the disk i've got a trick, but i don't know how it will work on a psx game...............if you take white toothpaste and put it on a scratch then buff it out it'll work good as new, but use this as a last resort.................i'd just try the disk on a friend's ps2, and if it's not the disk, get reeady to buy a new ps2, or wait for a PS3 price drop..........

Hmm well the disks are perfectly fine, no scratches or anything.

Its just ps1 games it has trouble with.

Are you saying it will progress onto ps2 games aswell?

Hmm, well if you ps2 read other disks, just play ur ff7 on your PSX, but it will probably move on to other games, but mabey the lense is dirty, CAUTION: this is risky but you can take the rubber pads on the bottom off, remove the cover, take a Q-Tip put in rubing alcohol ang lightly brush the lens, but too hard and the lens will scratch so probably dont try this.................
