You do realize that in a game such as this, that there IS no best party? The character stats and spells are solely based on your decsions and nothing is based on what happens when you level up. The best party is WHOEVER you want it to be.

Yeah, I agree with Edge, though there is a factor that differences characters, and it is limit breaks.
But, once again, limit breaks arenīt as strong if you donīt have the proper Strength/Magic junction, so itīs pretty customizable...

Nope your wrong there....Limit Break makes every chracter different from each other thus combining the right Limit Break at the right time will make the best party...there's an exception on the rule Malific...Rinoa's Limit break (the one that makes you invincible) doesnt need any junction or any kind of high status ....

Yeah, I see your point. But from what Iīve figured out from the game, junctions change, at least, a 75% of limit breaks effect...
What I meant is that most charactersī limits can be made strong enough, and thatīs why they donīt really make a big difference in the end.

actually it does....ofcourse Squall is always in the party so he's pretty much out of the topic...but incase of Irvine you need items to do his limit break without bullets he's a goner and the damage he does can be easily compensated by your ability if your fast in pressing the button in Zell's limit break...Im not sure but i think that some of quistis limit break has something to do with junction like gatling gun etc...while in Selphie's limit break...i dont know lolz...

Well, I agree with you in Zellīs... If youīre fast and make a chain combo, and you are a bit lucky... You can make around 30 hits... And thatīs insanity itself 
As for Selphieīs, I really like Full-Cure, (UNLESS you have the Zombie status lmao) and of course, The End, once it appears XD

But what I am trying to say, it really doesn't matter. I have played FF8 over may times, and each time, I ended up with a different ending party. Just play the game until you find a combination that works for you and only you.

the STRONGEST characters Overall in the game are squall rinoa irvine in that order. then quisty zell sefie.
i can make 2-3 hits a second wit zell's Duel LB n thats on average. my records 27 hits in 8 sec. wit 11 secs i got more but i didnt count.
if u can junction well u dont need to worry bout characters much. i have every GF and all possible junction abilities wit Squall Quisty and zell.

I just want to say that Rinoa's Angel Wing limit break does not make her invincible, thats the only problem with it. Although it boosts her magic like a ton and she uses spells as if berserked, she is very very vulnerable to damage.

actully, every character has certain base stat which do make them different from each other, although the can be changed with junction and certain junction cablited which can alter stats, also, it is depenant on limit breaks , and how you can manipulaate them to your advantage, persanally there really is no best party, but i cna tell you when cahracter is good at what so you can make your own,
Squall, fousus on power and defensive stats str and vit stat (warrior) also has perfect accuracy as a bonus
quistis, stats are all around slitlin focous ing on the mag stat (blue mage)
zell, fcousus on the the power aspect and hp str stat(monk)
selphie, not very good in power and def and hp speclizes in eva and and speed ablilty
rinoa, mainly magical ablilty (mag, spr)
irvine, im really not sure, lol
although the stat can be altered, wqipping magics corresponding to certain traits of the chars they can get more that others (ex. your gonna get more hp with zell, then you would with selphie if you juntion curaga) though most of this wont exactly make a huge diffence in the end of the game,
