Well, I´ve never seen this topic, as it´s a bit old lol...

But I must say that the storyline is the most important thing.

Bad story=Crap!

Its not a big surprise the storyline determines whether the game is good or bad, but judging solely on the storyline is unfair and not professional.

A good storyline which keeps RPG players captivate to the game is the main key here, the gameplay may be crappy and so does other factors like sound or graphics. The fun factor is determines by all aspects but the storyline gives the most influence, so I'll say the Fun factor is determined from the game's story.

In order from most important to least in my opinion:

GAMEPLAY (BY FAR), Storyline, Music (All I care is that it fits the setting), Character Development.

I don't care one bit about how good the graphics are.

And replay value comes with the gameplay...if the game has really good gameplay, you should want to play it again even if you already know all the twists and turns in the story itself.

Storyline and cutscenes of course, it's the most important for me. I don't care if the graphics sucks etc, the storyline in FF is the most important Smile

I think it comes like this:
Storyline/Cutscenes
Replay value
Music
Battle mode
Other

Well until recently I would have agreed with story being the most key component but after playing FFXII and XIII. XII had the moronic gambit system which I forced myself to deal with and I was able to choke the game down. XIII though was just too terrible to bear, the story doesn't mean much when the combat system makes you turn the game off. FF needs to take a leaf out of DQs book don't #$*@ with the combat system.
