FF8's graphics and motion capture were rated one of the highest quality,considering the year they published it. These days CG and motion captures are extraordinary,sooner or later they'll make CGI undistinguish from the normal human movie.

i'd say they have pretty much done that already, particularly skies and buildings and water etc. look real

In a few year's time (with the coming of multicore CPU's & maybe GPU's as well) and the significant increase in the average gamer's computing power, you could possibly remake FFVIII with graphics that look like the cinematics in the original version... although they probably won't because the market for it would be smaller, than compared to a new release...

If they remade final fantasy VIII i would buy it, but they're not going to. And as much as i'd love it if they remade FFVII they arent going to. There were so many rumors about the possible remake of that game but thats only because squaresoft did a tech. demo o the first cut scene to test out the graphics engine on the ps3, according to the E3 conference of 2005

if anyone Actually knew much about square-enix they have already said that they were remakeing final fantasy VII for the ps3, and that there probbly not not goin to remake any others.

Yea, its already known dat they're making the remake for FF7 ps3. But, it's still uncertain they're making the remake for FF8 too. Actually, I doubt they will do it. Probably they will continue with another FFXIII after the ps3 FF7.

I would definetly buy a remake of VIII. It was a great game. Can't really do a remake of IX since the characters were so cartoonlike with their features they would look REALLY weird with advent graphics... imagine a lifelike Quina....  makes me wanna hurl...

Not sure.. but I'm still fine with the VIII now.. Plus, if they actually remake it, its gonna consume a whole lot of manpower and cash. Other than that, they'll need to think of good extras that would surely attract VIII gamers, and new gamers, other than good graphics.
The same for VII too.
I'm more looking forward to XIII now.

Or,they can continue the story of FF8. Maybe the world ain't save after Ultimecia's defeat after all,who knows? (this turning out like FFAC) But it require such hardwork from Square-Enix crew to complete it as they gotta concentrate on the game after FFX-2.

I hope not. I love Final Fantasy 8, but Square shouldnt be making remakes. They should be more focused on new games and new ideas.
