indeed it is, after id gotten better at playing bass i once put american idiot on and played through the entire album without knowing half of the songs
nirvana is also a good one to start with so long as you dont mind being out of tune with the records because nirvana always play a semitone out in like Eb standard but not quite

kings of carnival creation...from...dimmy borgir ^-^ it's pretty cool, listen to it when you ahve the time
and i know aerith theme cos when i started playing the piano i wanted to play "fighting", that bg music when tifa and loz fight, but that's way to advanced for a beginner like me XD
metallica songs are good too ^^ when i was in a band i tried to learn seek and destroy on the guitar...but i'm just no good with strings -.-

i can play One on my bass, but i decided to learn the guitar part with two of the solos XD it's insanely difficult on a bass as you might imagine. Oh and Anaesthesia (Pulling Teeth) as well, thats is the coolest bass solo on record =D

Nirvana is very easy to learn, i would say try for smells first, and then get to nirvana's more difficult stuff ( which is still very easy) and then jump into bands with songs which are morte difficult to play.

I still find 'In Bloom' challenging to play right, that has a cool bassline and the intro is quite awkward.
