Well, the batteries in my wireless controller finally died.
been what? 12 days since launch of the 360 and i've been playing it non-stop.
of our 3 controllers, one died quickly (my idiot brother put the batteries in backwards, which drained them quickly), the second and third just now died.
40 hours of gameplay goes by fast when you play non-stop.
think ill go get the rechargeable battery pack now. (damn its sunday, stores close early, NOOOO)

it doesnt, but it still drains em.
i HOPE it doesnt damage the hardware in the controller. or else he is paying for that controller.
the batteries im using are the ones that came with the controller (one of the few products that has batteries included. i think they are energizer or something)

If the PS3 offers corded controllers as well I will go that route, since cords have never bothered me unless they are too short. I do not like batteries since sometimes if I do not use a battery operated device in a long time and forget to take the batteries out then they leak acid everywhere. It has been a long time since I had that happen but just the extra responsibility for something so minor is not worth it. I know the 360 offers corded controllers as well so I am sure PS3 will as well.

I for one am a hater of corded controllers. Why? Because the console is always that extra 30cm too far away, so I have to pull on the controller to budge the console closer to me. It's really annoying when I have friends over because there's a pretty big distance between the controller's and the console. Like one controller is going left, one is going right etc.
Though one thing I'll miss is the ability to cheat in some multiplayer games, like Goldeneye, lol where you could pull out a controller socket and that person would be helpless for a few seconds while they hurried to try and plug it back in, lol. I think in the gamecube though when you pull a controller out the game pauses .
But yeah I'm all for wireless controllers but my opinion might change once I realise how quickly they chew through batteries.

40 hours is a long time.
and its only 2 AA batteries.
its about $12 for 48 batteries (at costco) so thats
48/2
24*30(costco batteries suck)=720 hours
720hours/24hours=30days
so for $12 you have 30 constant days of battery life. (and thats only if the costco batteries suck as much as i think they do, they COULD give you the full 40 hours, but i say no because they are so damn cheep)

I'm usually not a fan of wireless because there's a bigger time delay than with a cord and you have to deal with replacing batteries.
The advantage of wireless is not dealing with cords' ability of tangling and not reaching, but they're a minor setback and I can easily (usually) move the console closer to make up for it.

actually the 360 wireless controllers have amazing response times.
they are faster than the Xbox Controller S corded even, dont know if they are faster than the 360 corded version though. but they are amazingly quick.
i think part of it is due to the buttions being more sensitive and have to move a shorter distance for it to count as a "press" and the other part due to quick programming and good design.
