War
This is a poem I wrote called war:
Silently serving
The subserviant soldier
Fighting the enemy, dropping the bomb
But fighting for the side of right? Or wrong?
When all is said and all is done
There is no right,
There is no wrong
Only two sides of one lie
The ultimate paradox
That war is always justified.
War is never justified -
What meaning can you give to just
To genuinely say we must
Invade?
Power made
By innocent men, for guilty creatures.
Power, man's downfall, or so say the preachers.
But in that final bloody hour
Where truly lies the power?
With the subserviant soldier
Silently slaying
Staying alive.
It scans a bit funny, and sounds better out loud, but the intention is what matters.
