A true gamer is someone who've merged with a game (lets take a RPG for an example) and learned to feel as the characters do (thats why they call it Role Playing Game duh).
I think FF8,FF7,FF Tactics is awesome, because:
- I know how the main characters felt (how Squall,Cloud and Ramza would have felt)
- I understand the story and mission well
- Cuz I'm a professional gamer (simple reason)
FF8 has alot to do wif my life, Squall and I were facing the same situations...we're good in our own ways and ppl kept on relying on us. We hate taking other ppl's burden, and hate to share our feelings...but we're afraid to think abt the consequences and effects to those around us. We care abt someone...but dun dare to show em'. Being a leader is something you didn't volunteer but the ppl around you chose you for some reason. Thats why I think FF8 is a great game.
A few of you may think FF8 is a something crap, thats because you can't enjoy the story-line and you can't adapt to the characters (especially the main one). Well, I can't blame you for unable to adapt to the game - since everybody have different adaptive ability to a game. How do I enjoy a RPG? I enjoy them by watching the characters grow....FF7 (how a weakling like Cloud - didn't even make it to join SOLDIER stand out in the end, how a young man like Squall became the leader of the outstanding SeeD force, and how a young Squire like Ramza fights against his own flesh for the sake of everyone and honour of his late father Beoulve). If you can't spot the growth...you will never enjoy the RPG.
Sorry if I talked alot lol...(so seldom I get to online in Funender these days), but my conclusion is FF8 is a great game!

hehehe, true, storyline was good, ya you can say tat...plot was the total opposite. Music is awesome. I think the characters are fine..hehhe, zell's pretty funny. Battle system...tho i dun personally like it, but still it's ok to play with and it is what makes FF8 FF8. No matter how you feel about the character, see the growth of the character, Being amazing is as far as FF8 can go. It can never be the best

i couldnt agree more squallpayne..its exactly how i fell about the game. which is why for those of us who feel that way..it is the best, though we can see why others wont see it that way.

i did get involved in the story...i wanted to see what happened...i mean to me it had the greatest ending to any ff maybe next to X....but they just really messed up on the battle system

Agree, I've checked the battle system (game play) rating for FF8 and its labelled in red (means low) 12.5 out of 20. The others are all ok, surprisingly the story is 0.5 behind FF7's. The battle system pulled down FF8's ratings.

I loved ff8. I liked all the other ones but my personal favorite is 8 because it had really good character development and a cool story.(I like the whole seed//sorceress and how they all squall and his friends all knew each other from childhood). When I play games, its all about story and characters.
There's been alot of talk about how people liked other ff stories better than 8, so i guess that varies from a persons taste(which i absolutley have no problem with ). I can relate to squall alot, plus i grew up like him in many ways so 8's story appealed to me the most.

i never died the first 2 times i played it...and no guides
3rd time i used guides to find omega....i fought him and died about 3 times....i never died to ultima in all 3 fights...well 4 bc i replayed for fun and won again
