Here is the longer version of the demo that we got!
Here a man would explain you how the game works. the coolest thing about this demo in my opinion is that it shows you how the summon entrance would look like in FF12!
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1839198589091377167&q=final+fantasy
take a look it explains everything of the demo

Personally I don't like the new battle system, but I think that the story looks great. When I saw a preview on G4 I screamed like a little girl. lol J/K I think it's a great step, but it reminds me to much of a hack and slash game.

dam it why do they have to go and do this, it all started to go down hill when ffx came out ant now look, when he said that the battle system would resemble that of ff tactics i nearly threw my pc across the room, are they crazy?!? bring back the old random battle system. ive gota say, the graphics look amazing, and thats coming from someone who is adament that im not gona but ps3 cos i want to stay loyal to microsoft...but the rerealise of ff7 and the release of ff12 might sway me to favor ps3
omg i cant believe i just said that, im going to go and become a monk and we will never speak of my blasphemy again.... ^_^

Actually, the FFXII Battle System is really good. What it seemed to me, it was a combination of the ol turn-based battle system, and real time fighting. Not only that, the AI's of your other party members are SMART! They know when to attack, heal, revive, etc. It's great. But don't think of them as total AI slaves. At any time you can control the action of any charater. It's just when you choose a new action, the time bar fills up (which reminds me a hell of a lot of the ATB bar of yore.)
And has no one even seen the addtion of "Green Magic?" That was nearly the first thing I saw! Green Magic is nothing new, but just merely protective spells like Shell, Protect an Reflect. The other magic include White and Black, duh, Time (which I am glad they brought back), and Arcane, which uses dark magic like the Gravity spells and drain.
An for those intereste in the summons, sadly, Ifrit, Shiva and the other FF regulars are missing, though the names of several airships take those names. Instead, you have Espers. Yes, the same type of summon we saw in FF6. When you summon, you lose two party members, and you are left with the Esper and it's summoner. The Esper is completely AI, and has HP and a time bar. It'll keeping attacking, etc until it dies or time runs out. You can heal the Esper with Magic and Items to keep it alive, because when time runs out, the Esper will unleash a devastating attack on all the foes currently involved in the battle. For instance, Belias, the new fire summons, will unleash Hell Fire when it's time expires, and beilve me, it is an awesome sight. I will, however, say that there is one familiar Eser name Zeromus. Any Final Fantasy lover will know that name in an instant, as Zeromus was the final boss in Final Fantasy IV. Not only him, Exdeath from Final Fantasy V and Chaos from the orginal Final Fanatasy comes as summons, and for those who have no clue who they are, they too, are final bosses.
I can't wait for this game, those who have not yet had a chance to play the demo, do so. I have played it about a gazillion times. It is addiciting.

Kinda, but to me, it felt like it had it's own feel to it. And its all 360 degree action, too.

i bought dragon quest and the demo is great the summons are phenominal. i love the battle system less of a chance to get hit you can move while fighting but it still utilizes the active time battle system dragon qust is a pretty good rpg too if youre looking for a filler between now and ffxii
