The good loving Jesus is a good and beautiful concept. (one that not all of the Christians I know share. [I one time heard people say "Jesus hates gays." -.-])
I have no evidence that Jesus was the son of any deity, neither subjective nor objective.
And objective evidence of that could not exist.
Therefore I cannot, with reference to the best explanation, even reference to the best personal explanation, say that Jesus was the son of any deity as much as I could not say that, for example, arc was the son/spawnling of any deity. And some would say that I cannot disprove it, but you cannot disprove anything. You cannot truly disprove even Santa Claus; you can only say that, at the time being, it does not fit with your personal or objective reference to the best explanation. For those reasons I do not believe that Jesus was the Son of God.
But he was a pretty nice fellow if you take him to the concepts that some of the most loving of Christians take him to.

I've tried to stay out of these conversations because I get wicked heated so I'll just post this one and not look back to see any replies.
1) If your faith was rocked by some media garbage you read... I'm sorry... There is nothing... NO..THING... you could do or show me that would make me lose my faith in Jesus and/or God. After all, I've met the guy 
2) I've heard a lot of Christians say you either have to accept Jesus as the son of God as he claimed to be or a lunatic running around touching people saying he was the son of God. It makes sense, but it's a horrible analogy.
3) Stop looking here... STOP LOOKING EVERYWHERE! The modern world has killed faith and religion, the only safe haven faith has left is inside you. You want answers? Look there.

That is one thing I will never do regardless. I won't choose to believe something solely on the basis of faith to the degree that I have no objective evidence at all. I cannot say when asked why I believe something,"I just feel it in my heart." If in anything I feel compelled to say that, I must study it, find the real reasons, and see if there is anything to back up, either personal experiences or objectively repeatable experiences.
And if you don't believe that Jesus was the son of god, then you don't have to believe that the Bible holds completely true about what he did. But regardless, the concept, the idea of the good Jesus that is loving and caring to everyone, that word being emphasized, that is a good thing. A wonderful concept that can benefit society if people try to live up to that example instead of living hateful lives.
But you don't need to have that example to live a loving life.

Do what I do when i start doubting my faith. Think of things logically.
At the end of the magical mind trail of uncertainty, you'll realize that he's a good guy either way. He told people not to judge others and helped people who no one else would believe in. And even if he's not the son of God, that's someone i would follow any day.

Yes. I kind of agree with you there. Kind of. I like the loving, kind, and caring Jesus that the most loving of Christians portray. But I think the main purpose of being like Jesus is to love everybody, correct? Teh pinata is going to do that regardless. I will always always, ALWAYS endeavor to love everyone.

in all technicality, you have to remember that jesus was human. It's nice to think of Jesus going around smiling as rainbow come out of his every orifice; but it's not the truth. The book of Mark REALLY stresses when Jesus gets mad and acts human. He gets angry at the Disciples a LOT.

I spoke wrongly there. I intended to say I refuse to believe something that is based solely on non-empirical data, but I can accept my own personal experience as empirical data despite them not being completely objective.
For that reason I CAN believe in a deity because I do have experiences under my belt...
