That's Darsche. The reason they sound like BM is because they're both psychopathic and insanely powerful wizards who kill because they can, although BM seems to kill because he enjoys it as well.

No they aren't. Richard's a Warlock called Richard, whereas Black Mage is a Black Mage called Black Mage Evilwizardington.

Great lastname.
Be honest. Warlock are basically overglourified Black Mages and anyone who wishes to argue with me has played far to much D&D. Or Final Fantasy. Which we all have.

I agree with you dude. I've played a good share of D&D and FF, Warlock isn't really that good at all. 4th ed D&D improved them a bit but they easily get outshined by Wizards and Paladins in terms of magical prowess. Really, Warlocks are just there for linear leveling and predictable spells. I personally prefer to be a pure Black Mage, or in the case of D&D when I'm not in a Beguiler mood, a Necromancer Cleric or an Enchanter Wizard.

you are right the red mage is the most powerfull character but the reason why he was not aloud to be like that in the game is simple. it was an 8 bit game and the tech was just not there for them to make him that good thus why he sucks at the end and everyone chooses the guy with a big sword
