I am more of a make-it-with-your-own-two-hands kind of person about my purpose in the world. I know what I want to be done, I know a way I can do it, I am going for it!
Helping people with their concept of self as a psychologist; I can see no better thing for me to personally focus on.
I don't know what I would consider my beliefs coming from. I basically just listen to the Holy Spirit and do things that make as many people around me as happy as possible even if it costs me my own happiness to some degree. But I do need a certain level of happiness in order to keep pushing out more happiness to others, and it is a useless endeavor without longevity.
But here is the big puzzler I come across in my head, as a psychology major, I know that everything that a person does, as a principle of psychology, supposedly directly relates to some benefit of some kind to that person, be it psychological or physiological, the purpose is there, and that begs the question,"Is anything noble? Can we truly ever do a noble thing?"
One of the great mysteries of life. I think it partially depends on what kind of benefit they get. Me, I do things because it makes me happy when others are happy.

Yeah, that one was quite amusing when it was brought up in 'friends' is there such a thing as a truely selfless act? An act in which you elevate another completely at the expense of yourself because even if that act doesnt benefit you in any way you will still feel good about helping another. I want to say bol***ks of course there are selfless acts but it's really difficult to think of one.

I had a discussion about that some time ago.
It was concluded that Humans are still animals no matter how one looks at it.
But don't be depressed from this, but humbled! ^^

It isn't the same. I will never feel a child growing, maturing in me. I will never have the kind of joy my best friends have had looking at the sonogram or whatever of their baby. Never. Never ever.

So, Lucky, you are an agnostic, you don't claim to believe anything one way or another because there is no proof that god exists and no proof that God doesn't exist I understand that. But I do wonder, just out of personal curiosity, do you ever explore what other religions say? I know that even T-Rex, if I am remembering the right person posting, said that he wanted to do that just out of curiosity, what about you?
I realise it isnt the same as carrying a child and giving birth but you can still create your own child and raise it and nurture it, when you're friends looked at the sonogram, wasnt the father of the child just as happy as the mother? I realise that you dont consider yourself a man but you can still father a child, which still comes with the same pride and joy as being a mother. I dont know how you feel about that as i dont fully understand the way you think about these things so forgive me if i've overstepped my bounds.
