I just watched the trailer and there's 2 massive mistakes.
1. He doesn't live in New York, the place he does live in is more isolated and much smaller.
2. He isn't Dr. Robert Neville. He was a soldier in Vietnam but there's no mention in the book of him being a Doctor.
As for the spoiler, if it's anything like the death in the book then it's a good death.

Lord J's latest quote of the week:
"Killing means never having to say you're sorry."
i did read the book and i understand that it wasnt like the movie, there was alot of differences
Hidden:
robert neville was white, he had found the dog, it had not been his pet, there was no cure, the vampires were conscious talking, thinking people, the one girl that neville met was a vampire and at the end he did commit suicide, but with two pills, not a hand grenade, but other than that the isolation issue, and the weird habits were kind of the same.
the general idea was there, the storytelling was just in a different way.

I went to the (local) cinema today, where it has just been put up for show in Denmark (yes, the local cinema is ALWAYS late ) and I liked it very much.
The effects were a big plus (lovely sounds) and the scene where the camera hovers above the city was just great! And, being a aniaml-lover, I loved the co-star-dog

But why, oh why, did they kill it? *sob-sob* (j/k)
In the end, it's pretty much like many other 'Great-destruction-of-the-world-or-humankind'-movies I've seen, just with a much more scary twist (no, I'm not talking about the mutated humans - I'm talking about the seclusion of Dr. Neville and the slight insanity it brings along. I would quickly go crazy in such a situation, I think )
The biggets let-downs for me was:
Hidden:
1. The fact that he was NOT the only human left in the world kinda spoiled the trailer's set-up (or is it the other way? )
2. Why, for gods sake, is there living-dead-whatever-zoombie-vampire-freaks!? I realize, by reading the above posts, that the movie is loosely based on a book. And I too realize that without other humans, and without any main evil for the main character to fight, it would be a some quite lame 1 hour 40 mins to watch and indeed some very negative feelings that surrounded the movie overall (or in other terms, there would be no 'happy end' if he had just died all alone as an old, crazy man talking to dolls...) But I had kinda looked forward to see who the last human on earth spent his last days
Great movie but it make u think this crap could happen!

The reason the film was so different to the book was because there is already a film that was made years ago that was under a different title. The writers changed it to this storyline to make it more up to date and to make the story more interesting to watch. although i agree with a lot of what u guys are saying, i too wish they showed more of the past, not just upto the point where the did show.
