Spirits Within wasn't really what I'd call an FF. But it was a Science Fiction movie, and a pretty good one at that.

At least, I like it way more than the uninteresting, action-and-graphics-based Advent Children.

If you strip it to the core, the movie had hardly any story, which somewhat comes from the fact that it has no real character development (character development being where you actually ADD ON to what you already know about a character).

Really, it WAS exciting, but that's all it was. Nothing much to it. The more I watch it, the more I realize how bad a movie it really is.

The stuff which was practically flooding the screen you mean. Not so much style but the plot was brilliant and plentiful.

I agree. The story and character development techniques were actually very similar to those of Final Fantasies 6 and onward, although more brief for purposes of keeping the movie reasonably short.

On the other hand, I saw no such character development from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. None whatsoever.

There wasn't any for Advent Children because they already had rough ideas from the game. All they had to do was give the characters a make-over so that they looked more realistic.

you cant really expect to have some serious character development there...it's not a long story where the characters actually have the space to develop...i dont think that was the purpose of the movie

As far as a science fiction movie it was good, I'll say that. You got me there
But still didn't appeal to me honestly...

That's probably because most people don't want deep, complex, good plot. They usually want enough plot to support awesome action sequences. I'm sorry if this offends you, but it's an urge most people do have. As I said, even I was somewhat influenced by the action scenes in AC, although not enough for me to not realize that it was not really a "good" movie.

It's an urge MOST people have, not ALL people. It seems that you are implying that I am like most people and it doesn't offend me, that's what you think and me not really liking Spirit's Within is my own feeling, and just because I like AC doesn't mean it's because of the action sequences I found the story to be good. I liked it because it was a continuation of the original game and I like to to know more to an incomplete story...Yes there was probably more action in it then an actual story but to me I still saw the story in it as well.....

If you're comparing the 2 films then I'm going to have to say that the story for Spirits Within was better and more original than Advent Children. Advent Children didn't have enough plot for me to say it's better than Spirits Within.
