Compared to the original FF III it's a vast improvement. You're probably thinking of FF VI since they got the number mixed up in America.

The FF III on DS is a re-make of the original FF III which was never released outside Japan. At least they actually got VI's number right when it moved onto Europe. IV's number was corrected as well.

I though that the ff3 on ds was a bit of a let down. Its probably becaue Ive learned to pay attention to character development lately and notice when the characters themselves suck. i think that 4 i the earliest game that really is worth a lot of time. the earliers ones chacters just aent memorable enough

ff3 was not that bad and the fact that sqaure re-made the original japanese ff3 was great, i dont think sqaure actually started thinking about character development until ff6/ff7

They had more development this time than they did in the original FF III. At least you get individuals, rather than slightly different coloured clones.

true, but the game is fight based, not story based, and I prefer the latter

It's no more fight based than FF I-VI. In some ways VII, but not quite so many ways.

well, I do think that I-VI are more fight based than the others, not that its a bad thing - but the game runs on boss after boss, sometimes the bosses dont really add much to the general plot , that kind of thing

welll, there was goldor, and you had a bit of backstory to him, gigameth had a whole castle to himself. on the other hand, you had kraken, the whole 'boss per crystal' thing became a little predictable, you had a blind chase for bahamut (although if it says anything on wi-fi i'm not sure), and the whole run-up to the master of the crystal tower made the boss plain dissapointing.
i do think that this is more fight than story based, although i havent played ff i-vi.

Well take into account that this is a remake of an old game so its not gonna be as good as the others they didn't really work out a good story line til FFVI 1-5 all had to do with crystals well except 2 so the games were alot similar in story line and even scripts
grrr I got to the very last battle and was completely destroyed the stupid's guide's tactics are not v good I need some better ones lol.

Try leveling until you're too powerful to be destroyed. I had just gotten to the final boss but then the tutor for my "Sound in Games" lesson at college arrived so I had to turn the DS off which unfortunately meant I had to start right from the bottom of the tower. I'll never understand why they didn't add save points inside the dungeons.
