Well Penelo is a good mage since in the game she is one of the two characters with the highest MP and Magic Stat.
But I turned him into a dagger wielding figther(later turned into a ninja blade wielder)
It really depends on you. Just make sure you have a good mage around. My mage was Fran even if her stats on Ma and MP wasn't all that good.(I just love her outfit lolz)

well currently most of my chars have healing capabilities an they all use meelie attacks bar fran and balthier who use ranged.. I just make sure they have a good gambit arrangement -_^

I have Barthier(sp) and fran using bows right now. Bach using a handaxe, Ashe being Mage with a sword, and Vaan using a sword. All of my characters have cure and Ashe has Cura. I'm only a little bit into the game though, so I don't want to make a bad decision with how I make Penello. SHe has like 1,100Lp and almost all of her default licences. I think she might be using a sword right now...

obviously if i said i had everyone at over lvl 60 but penelo at lvl 16 lmfao
I liked Vaan, Balthier and Fran the most....Basch would have been one of my favorite if they didnt have him change into that stupid outfit..........when he actually joins your team what he is wearing is completly stupid looking compaired to his armor back when the war was going on at the begaining of the game
im playing through ff12 again........doing everything i didnt do the first time......like all 45 marks and so on.........and i belive i found a way to make good use of penelo,..........take the gun off balthier.and give him a sword....cuz balthier is kick ass...and hes to manly to fight from far away.hes gotta be in the monsters face like 'WHAT NOW B*TCH'......
and have penelo be a gunner....sence no matter what weapon she has she is always mildly weak......and sence magic is kind of a waste of time in this game unless its healing magic.......makin her a mage is obviously out of the question......soooooooo have her with a gun....i find it easier to use her with a distant weapon compaired to anything else.....and actually use her this time..........got everyone up to lvl 25 and it aint that bad useing penelo as long as shes useing a distant weapon and stays out of your way

i dont think magic is a waste....it is in the beginning but im starting to get up where my chars r doing 200 physically and frans casting spells for about 700

What spell would that be? I'm using physical and i'm doing 200-800(handaxe, I wonder why the damage it does is so random) and my magic is doing like 400ish

it can get good to use......but by the time it was really good to use i had everyone so strong that they would kill whatever we were fighting in one round of attacks [but bosses of course]....i always saved the mp for healing....usein the gambit system and everything.....monsters could barly even get any1 in critical zone of hp........every time i had a single status effect,death or low hp it was right back to normal lmao
