Obviously FF7 wins for the best story,it's world voted (saw it on an exhibition in Hong Kong). It's twist and turn plots are well set and planned,not so confusing and well elaborated in the near endings. FF7 AC completes the story and everything.
However,I still prefer FF8's story coz it got alot to do wif my life. Dun laugh,(cmon),i really mean it. I used to b like Squall,and I pretty much know how he felt abt his life and the current situation he's in.
NOOO! FF X has the best storyline, well best and most believable! I mean here is Tidus playing Blitzball in a world he thinks is real, when it is all a dream. He gets sucked out to the real world. A world so vibrant and full of life and character that they, Squaresoft, did something they have never done. A sequel, it came out before Dirge did and Advent.

how did 9 and 10 beat 6 and 8?!? they have AWFUL stories in comparison to 6, 7 and 8. 7 is the best but 6 and 8 are close seconds easy! ff9 is just a 'fun game' and the story is nowhere near as great as 6, 7 and 8's and PLEASE! 10 had an awful storyline! (for a ff game) i am bemused right now, i just cannot understand that. *sigh*

you call x-2 a sequel?!? that was without a doubt the worst ff yet! i really wish i'd used my time on something more worthwhile like watching paint dry
I've actually heard it was pretty good, but that's just what I've heard, and besides, X-2, had a pretty bad storyline of what I've heard. I think I'd have to say 1)FFVII, but I've never played it, so I couldn't say, 2)FFVIII, which I voted for, 3)FFX, the aeon, summoner, sacrifice stuff did make for a pretty good storyline, 4)FFVI for whatever reason you're making a big deal out of it, 5)FFIX, I think it didn't have a good storyline, it was just a fun game.
