user defined challenges
I was just thinking about this and how the previous FFs had at least something you can do without (materia in FF7, junctions in FF8, single character in FF9, sphere grid in FF10 etc etc). I then started to wonder what you could possibly do in this game. No Crystalium seems impossible, no paradigm shifts maybe? Any other ideas?

the only in-battle items i use are librascopes i've never bought an item so my potion stock ran out early and never got replenished, no retries would be slightly cruel, initial weapons could work as could a time trial

There's someone on another forum (gamefaqs) who is trying to beat the game without using the crystalium. He's up to chapter 9 and almost beaten the end boss there. So maybe it is possible afterall.

You would have to not fight any battles.
I think not leveling your weapons and accessories and keep only the base ones kinda cool., but easy so it would have to be a time run. How could you show no retries? Should have a stat somewhere in the game how many retries you do.
Or only level 1 (3 basic crystalium).

You can fight all the battles you want, you just can't touch the Crystalium, sorta like the No Sphere Grid challenges in FFX.

No upgrading weapons and accessories, as far as crysallarium challenges go, maybe you could restrict yourself to the main track on each class and not take any of the paths that branch out

I decided to try the game without using crystalium at all just because I'm a challenge nutter  . From what I gather, it's fairly easy up to chapter 8, then rises in difficulty quite steeply. It also seems like ch. 11 is the end of the road but who knows  .
Currently on ch. 4, get to start upgrading pretty soon.

You would have to farm in Gran Pulse for ages in order to upgrade your equipment just to stand half of a chance. You might also be able to abuse Eidolon Canceling on him but... still >.>

Nah, with a synergist and medic on standby you may be able to get away with that one. Lemme think about this... something i died often on was the juggernaut, but its probably earlier on than that.
