He can vouch on how many times I lost to him. And Paragon was told to be very hard, but I necer lost to him and beat him in less than three full rounds.
But I tried something out of the blue to kill Trema, and it worked to my suprise.

Wow are you saying it took you 100 hours to reach level 99?
oh boy. I'm on level 45 now.
edit: Jumped into one of the holes and found a good level up spot, lol. I'm level 50 now but still getting a hiding when facing the boss trio. I can't even knock one out before all my party dies.

Okay, here are anwsers to your questions:

Now, that's just my final gameplay. This game is a New Game Plus. So it took me a little longer to finish it all. Twice to get 100%. When I beat Vegnagun on this game, I was only level 55, and I still made it to 99. It took a little time, but IT IS WORTH THE TROUBLE. Along the way, I master everything except for the Gun Mage and the Specal Dressspheres.

Yes. YOU HAVE TO BE AT 99! TRUST ME! Even then, boss were still doing over 9999 damage to me at time. As long as you have the Cat Nip and a Gunner, no worried. As for my party, Mascots? I never even got them! (Or Lady Luck, but meh.)
For the most part I used Yuna as a Gunner, and Rikku and Paine as a Beserker and then a Dark Knight for the final confrontation. If you want any detailed strat for any boss, I can tell you how to easily beat them all. (Most I killed in about two to three rounds, INCLUDING PARAGON.)

Did you go through all 100 floors of the Bevelle Cloister in Chapter Five? He's the first person you see when you go in there. This dungeon is completly optional, mind you.

Yeah, on the very last level, after you beat Paragon, you'll face him. Lose and you'll have to beat Paragon agian. It's one right into the other.
