Okay, working at a game store gives me lots of different reviews and news. for example:
1)The PS3 has had close to only 1% defect rate compared to the 360's 30%.
2)The PS3 is the cheapest blu-ray player on the market
3)While still in development, the multi player function on the PS3 is lacking games at the moment, but will be better once they release the online community thing that's like a rip off of second life
4)There is an extreme lack of games for the PS3, so there isn't much to do with it.

im kinda excited about an online area like second life minus the paying. like a visual forum of sorts.
and yeah, i heard the 1% defect rate which is the best ive heard of any console minus the wii which ive heard nothing besides the wrist strapps (which is the fault of stupidity)
also, ive heard it is the cheapest blue-ray player but because its not the greatest quality. i have no source for that at the moment but im talking read times and everything. who knows.
and older games... im not gonna get rid of my ps2 so its all good lol.
but im still gonna wait till after the holidays and see whats going on then.

please be sure that is you want to have backwards compat. that you get the 60 or 80 gig. the 40 doesn't have this feature. Or half the usb slots.

a little update. seems there is word about sony dropping the 80gb model and replacing it with a 120-160 gb. this is a rumor of course, but sony has been doing this lately so who knows.

I think the 120GB rumour will be true. Whether it will have backwards compatibility or not I dont know.
I do think backwards compatibility will even be available on the 40GB PS3's at some point as I reckon Sony's working on a software emulation solution.
