to buy or to wait...
so... i assume ill be getting plenty of money from far away family members and i was thinking about get a ps3 and assassins creed because it looks excelent and its pretty much the only game id buy for the system right now. so the real question is... have they become any more reliable, aka heat stuff, randomly shutting off and everything? and second, when would you console gurus expect the next price drop? honestly if a price drop is within the next 6 months i can wait until the rest of the games i want come out.

Ive had my PS3 since May and its been perfectly reliable. Im not sure where heat stuff and randomly shutting down has come from but I always thought PS3 was the most reliable of the consoles.
Im not sure when the next price drop is but there have been loads already.

well ive heard that heat was a problem, but had less reports of shinanegans than the 360. i ve never heard of anything wrong with any wii's but yeah. i was mostly thinking about heat, being as when i play games, it tends to be for a marathon like event lol. and my space is limited so it might not be super ventilated lol.

In terms of reliability, PS3 is only slightly better than the 360.

Nah just stand your PS3 vertically and the heat just rises to the top of it. Feels very warm to touch at the top but stays the same temperature no matter how long the console is on. I think the PS3 also has about 5 different fan settings to cool it down but ive never heard them have to speed up to cool the console down.
You should be fine for marathon gaming events as well. When I got my PS3 it was on for 12 straight hours most days and it was fine.

well thats good news. i also saw a ps3 add on, like hardware for external fans which looked ridiculous but thats kinda.... good lol.
so reliability isnt a factor and theres no way a price cut is coming any time soon since they just did it so i should prolly just go for it after the holidays i guess.

I know they had the external fans for the 360 which actually seemed to cause more to break than prevent overheating. IMO external fans aren't needed because the consoles should be designed to cope with the heat they produce.
Reliability is fine and one of the things I always thought Sony had done right with the PS3, its just a lack of games thats the problem but expected in the first year.

sadly. i dont know what to think about ffXIII. after 12 im a little bitter and im not looking forward to it at all. although, its the same team that did ffX and thus ff& i do believe. or at least the same director. ill have to look it up lol.

The 360 has excellent pricing and games atm but as 3nfy said, FFXIII is the reason I want a ps3, that and blu-ray.
I have high hopes for FFXIII, even though I'm not really into FF12 that much.

Well FFXIII and FFvXIII are pretty much lookin good so far
I heard Assassin's Creed was good but got a bit boring and kinda confusing at the end
I'm waiting for The Last Remnant to come out and KH3, and SC3
As for the heating system issue not much has been happening with that lately or at all from my understanding
I do want a PS3 though but I lack teh mulla :[

i think ps3 is worth the new price tho i bought mine when they were still $600 but my 1st ps3 did have a bug but if u buy the insurence it should be ok and ps3 is gonna have some rlly great games lik UT3, Haze, Uncharted, RFOM, Assasins Creed, and Call of Duty 4(<--- is the best online shooter ever) just to name a few games and i think that if u plan to play online PS3 is the best option especially because its free and its almost as good as xbox which is fine when considering its free

honestly if you are getting it NOW for a multiplatform release just because there are games LATER that you want, i would wait.
as for reliability, we honestly dont know, its only been out a year, the 360 for its first year was considered reliable, it was only shortly after its birthday that it started having lots of problems.
i would wait a little more, wait for MSG4 and FFXIII or whatever game you are craving to come out and get it then.
