Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 review
Right off the bat, you should all know that overall, i've been pretty disappointed with the wii. When it was announced however many years ago, the idea of the motion control seemed great, and of course, nintendo showed it off in a 1:1 light where what you did came across on screen. my example would be the original red steel demo videos, with people exaggerating movements to match the screen as opposed to the other way around. what came to be were the "waggle controls" which really have only worked in mario galaxy and that was in no way using the motion control to the potential i originally wanted on the system.
All that being said i put this game on reserve with the wii motion plus bundle and if it didnt come through, i was gonna probably sell my wii to some relatives that were looking for one for their kids.
Needless to say, ill be keeping my wii and tiger woods 2010.
So i hooked up the wii motion plus, i popped in the game, went through the starting tutorial and set up my personal golfer.
In real like i fade every shot. In tiger woods pga tour 10, i fade every shot. Its is indeed the most accurate representation of golf in a video game to date. hands down. no contest.
The game can be played without the wii motion plus as well if you so choose, and with control options from 2008 or 2009's versions of the game.
The online play is pretty good from what i could see. you sign up for a tournament and you have a goal and a certain amount of time to finish, 12-24 hours usually from what i saw. You can also play specific courses and "play with the pro's" to try and beat real world golfers recent records. kinda cool.
Also, with the new real weather additions, if im playing on a certain course and in the real world if at that location its raining, the game will have me playing it in the rain as well. its all real time. this option can be turned off if you so choose.
All previous features in past iterations are there, including the robust single player where you work up your golfer into the pro's, the club tuner, where the game analyzes your shots and you can tweak them on your own, from the woods to the irons.
Putting has also been changed (but once again you can use previous putting systems if you so choose). the new system focuses on smooth fluid movements to give you a great putt just like real life. The difficulty of the game overall can be set to a point where its great for casual players, but has much more realistic difficulty options for the hardcore player.
One last point, there are a ton of mini games, including the new frisbee golf which, with the 1:1 representation feels just like throwing a real frisbee. Its pretty fantastic.
Overall, I give it an A and its the reason (along with wii motion plus) that im keepy my wii for the future.
