Thoughts on Nintendo and the upcoming game system war.
Nintendo. Nintendo. Where do I begin.? From the fantastic nes beginnings to a great snes run, to an ill lived n64, to a now last place console. what happen? If u are a true gamer u know what happened or at least have your own take on it. My take, Nintendo got scared. Scared u ask? Yes I believe right around the end cycle of the snes, shortly after the big n canceled its upcoming console with Nintendo it happened.Sony threatened Nintendo in a way that would shift the favor in sonys corner for years to come.
Nintendo was banking on the new system sony created for them to lead them into the next gen. Imagine the powerhouse that is sony making system for Nintendo while Nintendo focused on games, a match made in heaven 4 sure. But Sony wanted to take game systems from just playing video games to universal media systems. Nintendo did not want this for they thought it would complicate gaming. Also they didn't want to go to the mature theme sony was heading for. Why? Maybe they thought volent games would corrupt the youth or maybe they didn't think the gaming world wasn't old enough yet? i don't know. Maybe they just didn't like sony? but either way Nintendo had no new system while sony already had a basis for their ps1.
The downfall begins. u all know the rest. Without the Nintendo franchise players (u know mario and company) they would have been out for the count, 4 sure.Sure Nintendo has always dominated the handheld market but would it still have without mario? would it have been enough to fall back on? Obviously they do have mario so all those questions really don't matter. But what else does the Big N got going for them? What else kept them a float? One word INNOVATION. That is a word the sony has no clue about. 90 percent of things sony spits out was done before, in one way or the next. Take the d pad, Nintendo's idea, how about analogs? Nintendo thought of it first. Rumble? dual shock ring a bell. once again Nintendo thought of it first. wireless controller? aheh guess what, Nintendo. Come on.
Well here we are once again. Nintendo has made something so innovated with their new system ( If you have been under a rock or just catching a virus on WOW,check here for details- http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143782 ) I bet any money sony will bite off of them ONCE AGAIN. watch. Why do u think sony is saying the boomerang controller of theirs is a prototype? i bet they are trying to copy Nintendo's tech as I type right now. That or sony thinks Nintendo i crazy. I sure hope its the latter.
I hope sony writes Nintendo off and Nintendo sneak attacks them with a turtle shell to the dome. I truly believe control is the main part of a video game. Sure graphics are nice but its nothing without a good interface. The new interface Nintendo is offering will, and i will bet my prize pig on it, change the gaming world for ever(revolutionize maybe?). 3 things have to happen. I mean has to happen. 1st they must increase their game library( especially 3rd party) to the standards snes had. 2nd they have to a custom to every single gamer. from nongamers to beginners, from casual gamers to the hardcore of the hardcorest(if thats even a word). 3rd, they have grow up a bit. I mean come on, the new controller is screaming 1ST PERSON SHOOTER , HACK AND SLASH, STEALING CARS, maybe not that last one but u get the point.
Well those are my thoughts and I would appreciate it if u gave me some * and your thoughts on the new Nintendo system, good or bad.
P.S. If u have noticed I didn't mention the X-Box 360 at all ( well until now). I don't think the new X-box will get above 3rd place. Maybe at first but once nintendo and sony gain steam its pretty much over. But I must say though it is not even pre season yet in the game so all this is just speculation so let me know what YOU think.
Well I'm going to get a lot of heat for this but I lost faith in the current next gen consoles so neither.
Is what Nintendo doing good or bad? Doesn't matter. Fans will still stick to them until they fall. Right before that happens, they'll mostly be in denial.
Is M$ bound to be third place? Doesn't matter either. It brought online goodness to us. Thats what's important.
Is Sony going to be up top? No. After ps1, ps2 was never claimed the best console until ps3 got released. Same thing will happen. ps3 will have it's fair share of games and stuff. It's no guarantee they won't flop. That's business.
Cool a new user adding something interesting to the forums, welcome! I heard that Sony was going to design only parts of the next Nintendo system but Nintendo instead had IBM make the part and Sony was angry at that and decided to create a whole console for themselves if I am not mistaken.
It could just be that Nintendo were pros at making "cute" games with side scrollers and that was easy, but the change from cute sidescrollers to 3D realistic games is what made them fall a bit behind over the years. Nintendo promised a ton of titles for the N64 and there weren't many, but it had some of the best games on that system like Zelda OoT and Goldeneye, then the GC came out and there were promises again being made but still a lack of games, and how many games are actually online for the system 1? That being PSO? Now they are making promises again and even if the controller is extremely cool I dont think a lot of people will really like or give it a chance enough to make a huge difference.
I really do not care too much about any console, I am becoming more of a PC gamer now because if game developers do not add or fix something that we want a third party developer can release their own mod to keep the game alive forever. However there are certain games that would feel a bit weird playing on PC so that is when I go to the console, and I will get the PS3 because they are the only ones who are doing what they say and have the support.
M$ is a big brainwashing advert to hypnotize gullible people into thinking the Xbox is the best thing ever. Nintendo breaks promises so out of those three I have to take the PS3.
I am not really a fanboy of anything, I could say that I was a fanboy of the SNES and games on the PSX up until FFVII. I am not big on consoles but on the games, and I see commercials and everyone saying how the average games that have been done a million times on the Xbox are "A perfect 10/10 score game of the year! The best ever buy this game and you will be cool and get hot chicks and everyone will think you are cool with an Xbox! Look her boobs bounce buy this game now!" type advertisements to sell the Xbox.
See I am not byast so I will be honest and say that it is the most powerful, but I have a pretty powerful PC to push today's games and most of the hits on the Xbox are PC ports. I dont need Xbox Live when I can play online with my PC with a better mic and headphones. I do not need to play Doom III, Halo, FF11, Counterstrike Source, Mechwarrior, Half Life 2 on the Xbox when I already have them on my PC in higher quality. I do not need an Xbox harddrive to store MP3's I have 4 (160GB each) SATA Harddrives on my PC. I do not need a DVD player in my Xbox I have a DVD Burner for my home and PC already.
Plus another reason I hold a personal grudge against Xbox was because for the first time in my life I bought a console on launch. I have always waited to check out the console to make sure it was worth buying first, but the Xbox had me so sold on it being the best ever, taking gaming to a new level with never seen before breath taking graphics and extremely powerful as all of the advertisements said on a daily basis. Halo being the best game in the history of gaming, etc. etc. So I went out and spent $500 for all of that Xcrap to find out it didn't do all of the things it was hyped up to be. It was an average system with PC ports and no keyboard so it wouldn't be considered a PC. Oh yeah take away the keyboard and it's not a PC nice touch. I heard there is a PC keyboard adapter out now though.
lol I think all consoles had a cool game that is a must play. The Dreamcast was cool though, and the players who owned a DC online were very cool. You could join a game and meet an online friend for life on the DC Now everyone is either really quiet and never says a word, hax, or talks stupid the whole time.
I've lost a lot of faith in Nintendo since owning the GameCube. I really don't like it how Nintendo keep looking so far into the future. It's good for the gaming industry but not for them. They look so far into the future and say things like "We've got great titles planned" etc that loyal Nintendo fans are kept waiting. For Nintendo's sake I hope they look for ways on improving their Revolution console, rather than planning a new console 5 years down the road.
If that's your concern Stapey then I don't think you have to worry. The Rev takes a crap on next gen and combines Snes,Nes, GC, prolly n64 into one whole next gen system.

I think all consoles had a cool game that is a must play. The Dreamcast was cool though, and the players who owned a DC online were very cool. You could join a game and meet an online friend for life on the DC
