This is something I don't get
Why doesn't a console company (not the major players) just work together with Linux and make Linux a PC turned into console and give a true PC/Console to the consumers?
Seeing as the team has pretty much have a cult following then the pc portion is cheaper to fit in since the OS is basically free then add something along the lines of gaming hardware then you got something that has eyes turning instead of the mostly "unknown" next gen consoles

Yeah, I thought the same thing when Microsoft released a console. I questioned if Nintendo would work together with Apple or something.
But if people had the choice between a PC and a console that acted like a PC, they'd choose the PC.

Probably too late now, plus they need to get the support of so many developers and spend so many millions on advertising, and due to the history of other consoles that failed in the past, they are probably too afraid to take that risk.

Ahh that's too bad. Then why bother making a console in the first place?
I can't remember the names of those consoles that got buried by ps2, x-box and gc but I know they exist out there and are shown in some expos.
Some even tried to mimic a keyboard controller type thingy.

It's all about the profit. Of course they do not think they are going to lose until it is too late. I know that from experience, some things you expect everyone will love but don't.

Ahh.. I see... but what factors them into failing usually? Is it because they cared too much about the profit or is it because they didn't put too much passion into the console or is it because they didn't study the console market well enough?

There are so many things that result in the failure, however the most important thing is developer support and exclusive must have titles with a cheap price. In the past the failed consoles tried to sell on how powerful they were, but the games weren't there or the games and/or system was at an outragious price.
