This game...
...was the reason I had purchased the Playstation. I stopped keeping up with games for that year since I was working two jobs and in school, but I remember it like it was yesterday... I was ironing my clothes and then a commericial came on MTV showing FF VII. The commercial didnt explain that it was a game, it just showed the cutscenes and I was watching this and saying "Wow is this some kind of new movie?" Then near the end of the commercial they said "Final Fantasy VII for the Playstation" and I was like "WHOA! That is a game???!" I was still stuck on the N64 type graphics that didnt have any amazing cutscenes like the PSX. So I jumped in my car, raced to Walmart and purchased the PSX along with FFVI  Man that game changed all videogame standards, I thought from that point on every single game released would be as good as FFVII. When FFVIII came out I was the first in line to grab it. I was so anxious I went home on my lunchbreak just to play it.
Sadly I was very disappointed, I beat the whole game and all, but I think the only reason I played the whole thing was to see if the story would turn around and get really good. I really didnt like the graphics or the characters, there were so many jaggies in the game and it was so slow paced. I then realized that Square probably couldnt produce another game that just totally put me in the story like FFVI, so I didnt really keep up with those games until FF X was released for the PS2. Those graphics are still amazing even today.

oh yeah i agree FFVII was the one that hooked me but i do agree it was kinda cheesy and really no good storyline but hey it was fun playing it,then i went on to play the other I was actually amazed by FFVIIII but that game was just way to long and slightly confusing i wasnt to big on 9 though still never finished that one.But when X came out i was like WHOA! look at the graphics i was blown away hook line and sinker  Rikku was my fav in X also hehe

Very cool. I didnt play 9 actually because I don't like going "backwards" What I mean by that is I was already used to the amazing graphics and games of the 128bit systems so to go back to PSX it looked so outdated heh. I am not a "graphics *" but I do like a game to look good but the story and controls have to be awesome.

Yeah me too in a way, but some people base a game being good on graphics alone, like the overrated Halo.

Yeah I guess so,I never played halo,I did try doom3 but i liked the old version better
Ihave been playing the quake 3 demo too i like that me and sab used to kick each others butt's in that game then I went on too kick his but in UT
but he's been a party poop so I have been patiently waiting for RCT3 and playing the demo of that(nice Graphics)

I live and die for Quake on a daily basis  In fact I am currently working on a project named defragmaps.com that contains over 1300 maps with details and screenshots for everyone to download. I actually have taken the time to take 1300 screenshots within a week

That project was all accomplished very quickly so I predict this FF site to offer a lot as well, maybe even more since there is so much content
