i'm nowhere near the game right now, but you need to head past the outpost area into the labyrinth part of the desert. i don't remember exactly where i found him here but be ready to chase him all over the place

beyond the "saurous" where the little village is at eastgate desert thing... sets up a whole mini quest too

I can't even find the Laberynth(Sp). I got to the city that has all the workers rebuilding something in it. Did I go too far? Oh, I started a sandstorm too. was I supposed to do that?

Well if you're in a sandstorm you're already in the Westersands.
The cactus is in the eastersands. The area after the small village.(two screens from Rabanastre)
Check the map, most of the areas in these dungeons have their own names.
I think you're already in Nalbina Fortress, just go back to the eastersands. The cactus is just around there.
Its a bit hard if you don't level and I suggest using magic on it. It has a move that deals 1000 damage which it uses rarely, but when it did it wiped Vaan and Penelo.

Is it that 1000 needles that Cactuars have? And I think you just solved my problem. I thought it said WESTersands, not EASTersands. Thank you.

Yup the 1000 needles but I think it only uses it when its hp is critical. (Damned move it only had little hp but when it used that move it wiped us out)
when its hp is about half it moves around the area, trying to gather other monster to join into your fight. After that it uses potion on itself.
Best use Fire magic on it.

where you initially meet the man who gives you the hunt - it is 1 instince past. you go the opposite way of the saurion and your in the "labrynth" just run around there a bit and you'll find it.
Actually I found it really easy to kill sinc eI didnt start my hunts until lvl 20, damn the toads a pain though ^_^ thing took a beating. Anywho Killed my first summon too... Now i'm off to level somewhat since I made it too the next lil bit of story... damn learning curv in this game (level of enamies) is really bad O_o
