The Wire

This is an HBO series. its got 5 season out and i believe thats it so you can buy them all and the writting in the show puts all other shows to shame. Im not even joking. its as gritty and real as you are going to get and its fantastic. its... a cross between NYPD blue and the sopranoes but with better writing. each season focuses on one case (a big case) and is awesome. im not even joking you guys. go out and get the first season and youll be in for life. it might take till the 3 episode of the first season to get invested in the characters but after that, you are golden.

I used to watch it since it's on Fox8 in aus. Great show, you're right it is gritty and probably the most realistic cop show going around. Now I don't live in America nor do I know what it's like on the streets but everything seems like the dramatisation has been watered down to leave a "What its really like on the streets" kind of feel. I lost interest after a while as I do most shows lol.
