Well, I'm not sure.... The first forum that I became a mod for was ultra-strict on posting; this forum for me was meant for getting away from that.... And the thing is though, these days unless its blatant spamming its quite hard to judge what is acceptable and what isn't.

Double-posting is something I had to scan forums for back in the day, and spam. The forums were strict in the fact that if there was a conversation going on that didn't have much to do with the main topic, we either had to move the conversation, or lock the forum. I hated being the bad guy.
Well, these days there isn't even an off-topic curse.(you know, the old 3-day rule...) DPers get one warning; and I'm left wondering why I don't know this already since I joined before you?
But yeah, I preferred the way the forum was back then; conversations at least were civilised; there was a lot less violence...

Civilized conversations are a little hard to come by, I agree. &&Posts with a lot of content. Small sentenced posts make me feel like my conversations are almost completely one-sided; and that's saddening also.
Like I don't know, when "The Lounge" used to be "free forum" there wasn't as much spam.... When the name got changed to something more proper the spam type of posts started coming in....

In a sense it is still the free forum; I'm just saying that people are much more freer these days than they've ever been before. I've probably been responsible for posting loads of rather unhelpful posts admittedly; but like posting is the only way to know most people...

I agree; so there's not a huge harm in a free forum, it's just sad that there are so many, by the sounds of it, that are posting just to be posting. =(
Yeah, well, what can I say.... I think Dazzard and I set of the chain when we beat Haine's posting rate; then Arc and DC came along, and together with Cim the forum just hasn't been the same.

But the forums are still alive, and the level of strictness keeps them here, I'm sure. I've seen small warnings for DPs, and they seem to respond in a positive manner. At least the community here is responsive to Admins/Mods. =)

Don't be so sure about the last part; I warned a guy twice, and he kept on using swear words at me.... I think quoting funender's words did the trick though...

I'm not sure, but I think that constantly swearing(not just a little bit), plus ignoring mod warnings, isn't good. Although I have seen some users coming good after I warned them, which is a good sign...
