The Search Feature is Back :)
I have just finished coding the new forum search feature This is a beta version as I am aware of a few minor cosmetic bugs, but overall it works. You will see a new form similar to the original forum search:
http://www.funender.com/finalfantasy/forums/search.php
You can enter search keywords and the results will appear for the keyword on the next page. Please note that using asterisks before and/or after the keyword will give you a broader search. So if you searched for Hope only, it may not show any results. However searching for Hope* would display all related results beginning with the keyword Hope such as the example Hope is a good character. Or an asterisk in the beginning of the keyword too like *Hope* would display a topic like I want to use Hope as a medic.
The same applies when searching by username. You could use FuNEnD3R alone to find my posts, or use fun* which will display the same results.
You may encounter error messages asking you to wait 5 or 10 seconds before searching again. I had to add this due to the length of time it takes when searching though all of the posts which could take a while. There is a five second wait when searching for titles, and 10 seconds before searching again for message text. Enjoy!
EDIT
Updates, fixed repeated topic author in rows
Added "View this post" link for easier navigation
Highlighted keywords in bold text so you can see how the search results match your keyword

That's great Fun, keep up the great work
*goes to test the search feature*
Edit:
Ok... I just did a search where I'm the author and put "daz*" to search in the message text only, but I get other people's posts instead, not mine :/

First to master the monk class (probably my proudest/only Funender achievement)
Thanks Rukkie
Thanks Crazed ^^
Darkrai + Charizard = dazard... 1 "z" short =/
NOTE: If I don't pay for an RPG EBAY auction, it's not because I changed my mind, I just dissapeared in one of those forum cracks... If you still want me to pay for something I bid for then PM me =) |

Have to agree that there is a bug... when I do the wal* search I get my topic's posts plus the other people's posts that replied to the orig topic but their posts labeled are with my name. And it started with oldest topic first and not the newest. Should it not be the newest first?

It appears as though it is under their name when that is actually displaying the topic author's name in each row which is confusing. If you use a specific search keyword or phrase and not just daz* or wal* you will get more specific results. Like searching for *weapon upgrading* or *fang* from the FFXIII forum for example you will see all of the posts related to that keyword.
EDIT
I made it display the poster's username for each row instead of the topic author's username. So if you entered the keyword *search* and author daz* for example, it will show you this topic in the results.
EDIT
OK please read my original post in this topic as I have updated it with new features. It should be easier to use now.
