The Other Side of Kingdom Hearts
So... Before I start I wanna say a few words...
It's been quite some time since I started writting this story about what would have happened, if the start of Kingdom Hearts was changed... I asked myself; What would have happened if Sora, Kairi and Riku had manage to leave the Destiny Island before it was taken by the darkness. Would it have been Riku who had got the keyblade?
And what about Sora and Kairi?
And Donald, Goofy and King Mickey?
This is the start of that story... (it is not divided into chapters at this point)
Our story begins the evening before the Destiny Island is swallowed by darkness. Sora and Kairi has just finished their talk about Riku has changed, and that Kairi isn’t afraid to leave Destiny Island anymore. Sora runs after Kairi.
“Kairi, wait!” Sora said when he caught her up. “We…could travel today!”
“Now?” Kairi asked surprised. “Just the two of us?”
“Eh… I think we should take Riku with us!” Sora said. “He is our best friend, you know!”
“Yes, you’re right!” Kairi said.
“Then let’s ask Riku!” Sora said. “We‘re ready, right?”
“I think so,” Kairi said. “The raft is finished, we collected food for the journey this afternoon…hmm…yes we’re ready!”
“Okay,” Sora said. “If you go and get Riku and tell him about the plan and get our stuff, then I’ll get the raft ready.”
“Right!” Kairi said and started to run toward the boat-bridge! ”See you at the raft!”
“Yes!” Sora shouted and ran towards the door to the other side of the island. He quickly reached the raft, tied it to a palm with some rope and pushed it into the ocean. Then he ran to the little cave hidden by a boulder, where they had hid their supplies. He pushed the boulder aside, took the bag with the food and walked back to the raft. He placed the bag on the raft and turned around. He looked at palms, the rocks and everything that Kairi, Riku and he was about to leave…if Riku didn’t disagree. After all, Riku was kinda their leader and so the usually did what he thought best.
He turned around again and looked at the sunset, making the ocean look red. After half an hour he suddenly heard Riku’s and Kairi’s voices. He looked and saw his two friends running towards him, both carrying bags.
“Wanna set sail now, Riku?” Sora asked when they reached him.
“Of course, I can’t wait!” Riku said excited and threw a bag to Sora. “Here’s your bag. This is going to be our greatest adventure ever!”
“Ehm… how did you get my bag?” Sora asked.
“It was… pretty easy!” Riku said, looking at Kairi.
“I distracted your mother, while Riku got your bag,” Kairi said. “I just hope, you was finish packing.”
“And I’ve also taken our fishing-rods and swords, Sora!” Riku said. “But we may have to get something better later.”
“Yes!” Sora said.
“You guys aren’t thinking of getting real swords, are you?” Kairi asked.
“Maybe, maybe not. But if we wanna set sail it should be now!” Riku said. “It’s best we go before it gets dark.”
Kairi and Sora boarded the raft, and Riku removed the rope and followed them. Then they began their journey.
After about an hour they couldn’t see the island anymore. It had got dark, and Kairi was sleeping. Riku and Sora was sitting beside each other and talking.
“So, what do you think we’ll find out there?” Sora said, nodding his head at the horizon
“Who knows?” Riku said. “Personally, I’m just glad to be away from the island.” Riku rose and placed himself at the edge of the raft, looking at the horizon. “You know Sora, I’ve wondered in a long time what was beyond our island. I’ve wanted to leave, to see other worlds. That’s my goal with this trip: To see other worlds!”
“It’s mine to, you know!” Sora said, rose and placed himself beside Riku. “And I’m sure that it’s Kairi’s goal too!”
“Yes,” Riku said and smiled at Sora. “Let’s get some rest. We never know what will happen tomorrow.”
Sora walked back where he sat before and lay down, putting a carpet over himself.
“Good night, Riku!” Sora said.
“Good night, Sora!” Riku said, and turned around. In few seconds he heard Sora snoring. He walked towards Kairi, put her carpet, which she had pushed away, over her again, and lay down between her and Sora. After some minutes wondering he fell asleep too.

Second part, coming up!
Next day a fresh Kairi waked both Riku and Sora.
“Hey you lazy bums! Wake up!”
Slowly Sora rose from the raft’s hard surface. His eyes were closed and he was mumbling.
Riku, on the other hand, nearly jumped up and looked like he had been awake for hours. He sat down beside Kairi, who was opening a coconut and cutting a mushroom into tiny slices. After a while, where Sora hadn’t moved, Riku rose from his seat and walked over beside Sora.
“Sora!” he sad, knocking with his fist at Sora’s head. “Wake up now!”
Sora opened his eyes wide and gazed at Riku.
“What?” He asked, looking confused.
“It’s morning, and we’re eating breakfast now!” Riku said and smiled at his friend.
“Is he awake?” Kairi asked.
“Yes…I think!” Riku laughed and helped Sora up.
“Thanks,” Sora said and sat down beside Kairi.
After finishing breakfast, Kairi began to read a book. Riku and Sora discussed whom of them there were best at fighting. Around afternoon Sora and Riku sat down and fished. After and hour or so, Kairi joined them.
“Have you caught something?” She said and sad down beside Sora.
“Not yet,” Sora replied, shaking his fishing-rod impatient.
“That is not gonna help!” Riku said, referring to Sora’s impatient behaviour.
“You haven’t caught anything either,” Sora said.
“That’s not the point,” Riku said. “But maybe we should stop for today… it’s not like we need fish at all.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” Sora said.
Later, after they had eaten, they sad together and talked about old days at the islands. They had only been away from Destiny Islands in one day but it seem as though they had been away for weeks.
“So, what was your favourite spot at the old island?” Kairi asked Sora and Riku. Riku was the first to reply.
“I liked to sit at that curved palm-tree at Paopu Island,” he said and leaned his back against the raft’s mast. “That was the best place to look at the sunset.”
“Just like we did yesterday,” Kairi said, looking at the dark sky. Stars were slowly getting visible up there.
“What about you, Sora?” Riku asked Sora, who sad behind the other side of the mast. “What did you like best about the island?”’
“Well… I don’t know… “ Sora said, sounding a bit tired. “I liked… our old hideout.”
“The old hideout?” Riku repeated. “But… I though you stopped coming their years ago.”
“Well, yes… kinda.” Sora said. “It’s just… we have so many glad memories there… that’s why I like it.”
“Remember we though there was monsters in there?” Riku asked Sora.
“Yes… I wonder why we stopped coming there…”

Not enough space to put the whole part two in only one post... Here's the rest!
“Hey guys, look!” Kairi interrupted pointing up in the sky.
Both Sora and Riku rose from the raft and looked into the sky at the direction Kairi pointed. There, just there where Kairi was looking, was a star. But it was… twinkling. Quickly.
“That is strange,” Riku said. “I’ve heard about meteors and shooting stars, but a twinkling star?”
“And at that speed?” Sora said.
The star just kept twinkling, quicker and quicker, and the faster it twinkled the more brighter it became. But then all of a sudden it disappeared.
“What?” Sora said starring into the sky. He noticed that his reaction was nearly similar to Riku’s and Kairi’s reactions. But then he saw another thing. Riku’s glance had wandered from the sky to the horizon, where some giant, dark clouds had gathered. The clouds were moving towards them.
Now Kairi too, had discovered the clouds, and the three friends stood paralysed and watched the clouds coming nearer and nearer.
“Is… is it a storm?” Sora asked.
“It looks like… those storms you hear about in old sea tales!” Riku said. Kairi and Sora looked at him.
“Well, you know,” Riku continued. “Those storms that old sailors always talks about. Those that… that… destroy their ships totally, leaving few or none survivors in its path.”
“Oh, that made us feel allot better,” Sora said sarcastically. “Tank you, Riku!”
“Hey, just thought you wanted to know.” Riku said.
“It doesn’t… it doesn’t look like a storm,” Kairi said glancing with her big, blue eyes at the dark clouds.
“But if it is not a storm, what is it then?” Sora asked.
“Who knows?” Riku said. “But I think we gotta prepare ourselves.”
“How?” Kairi asked.
“We must tie us to the raft in some way,” Riku said. “What a luck we brought the robes, huh?”
“I hope it’s gonna work,” Sora said.
“We don’t have another choice,” Riku said. “We’ll just have to hope for the best.”
“Right!” Sora said and took the robe in his bag.
