Neche sat on the top of a fallen over flag pole. The red and blue colors were pretty but was not what she was looking at. Before her was what would seem to anyone else like a small field mouse. Thanks to her unique ability she was able to see the wires and the little red light blinking inside the little creature. It ran back and forth and was very tantalizing prey, especially to the hungry young huntress. However, she knew better and just watched it lazily. "A little further... a little further now little mousy... and..." BLAM! The mouse had unwittingly stepped into a different trap set for humans who would pass through the area. The trap closed and the mouse exploded. "Now you are free from your hell" she laid down on the flag pole and licked her paws contentedly.
Black Paw carefully stepped through the meadows, weaving his way between traps and explosives. He hadn't eaten in a couple days, so his stomach rumbled every few minutes. All of a sudden there was a click. He looked down and cursed loudly. There it was, him standing on a land mine. The only thing saving him was pressure. He decided to use his telekinesis as an attempt to fool it. He channeled his weight in power at the same places and in the same shape of his paws. He then ran off, the mine not exploding. Once out of range, he let the telekinetic pressure fade, causing a massive explosion.
Red Tail watched her prey. She had her eye on a small skinny rabbit who seemed unaware of her presence. Then there was a loud 'BOOM!' that startled Red Tail, she looked around for the source, and saw debree flying everywhere a short distance away. She then saw her prey darting off, and sighed taking persuit, but she didn't end up catching up with. "Drat..it scared off my meal...." her stomach growled and sighed. "Guess I better start looking for something else."
Black Paw sat there in a daze, oblivious to the world around him. He was still surprised that the trick had worked. He normally would have used his telekinesis to divert the force and shrapnel. Now it was a simple matter to avoid and survive these traps.
Red Tail saw another fox as she looked around for something to replace the lost meal. She didn't feel like giving him much attention though. Something told him he was the one who scared off her last attempted meal. She looked, but didn't find much of anything.
As his stomach rumbled, this time it was different. It began to send twinges of pain throughout his body. He let out a low, pained whine as he stood and began searching for something to eat. He needed food soon or he would be too weak to get it himself.
Black paw hungrily lunged at the rabbit and caught it by it back leg. He twisted his head quickly to snap the bones in the leg so that his prey wouldn't escape. Then he tossed it to the ground and prepared to break its neck as the finishing blow.
Red Tail beat him to the finishing blow. Her foot suddenly came down on the rabbit's neck, and then hunger taking over, she bit right into the rabbit, almost not seeming to notice that Black Paw was there.
He just simply let her and bit into the torso, eating the meat he so desperately needed. He went for the fattiest parts first, seeking the most energy from each bite so that it would sustain him for a while. He ate half of it, leaving the equivalent amount of fat and meat to the other fox that was by him.
Red Tail finished her half, most of her hunger satisfied. She then nodded to Black Paw, in a way of a thank you for sharing with her, and then began walking away.
Black Paw tackled her and shook his head, looking at where she almost stepped. There was another landmine there and he didn't want her to get hurt. He stood beside her and motioned with his muzzle for her to follow him until they got out. He knew the way out and would get her out of here safely.
He wove through the safe zones, making sure Red Tail followed. Once they got out of the danger zone, he sat on the ground and looked at her. "Be safe. Maybe we shall meet again. If you ever need me, I am always here in the field or on the borders of the field."
