The Justice System

I am sure it is a lot different depending in which country that you live in. How do you feel about your justice system is it pretty fair and accurate for the most part? I watch a lot of court documentaries and it is strange how sometimes someone could look so guilty but then months later you see a videotape of them being somewhere completely different when a crime occurred which sets them free.

i think body psychology etc is very hard to judge...
if im innocent and accused, i still get scared as thers a chance i could get into trouble for this!

the justice system has its ups and downs over here... Its doing its best... bit the police here have no power over anything, and when they use the power they do have, they get busted for it!
i think whoever makes these rules needs to sit down and think about which side hes really on!

hehe yeah that is true but I did pick up on something watching police interviews of criminals. One thing is that they never give a straight answer when lying. Like if the cop asks:

"Did you commit the robbery?"

If the criminals say:

"I was not there at the time... the crime that you accused me of was committed so I am innocent"

and usually give answers like that for every simple question they are lying.

human rights has really caused a blow to the justice system in my view. police have had much power taken away from them,l and are being made to do more form filling than they should be...more police on the streets is needed in a lot of areas.

sentencing has also been impacted greatly, over here in the uk, there arent enough cells to hold prisoners and prisons are getting jammed, meaning that judges are trying to stay away from sentencing long prison sentences, which is what is needed in most cases. (which brings to mind the death penalty for serious cases, as that would free up much space)

yeah..to get the justice system on track, we need to get rid of human rights activists first; they are as dangerous to public safety as the criminals.

Human Rights activists do often step over the line I think..... Same goes for animal rights ones. But having human rights people can be helpful, sometimes.

oh yes, a ground rule of rights that humans needs to be kept, and the welfare of animals needs to be upheld, i do agree... but as you say, they do step over the line, and when they do (which is quite numerous sadly) it overshadows any good that they are trying to do...especially the violent animal rights people, they truly disgust me.

i know the world isnt as it should be...but really, we shouldnt need to be told what peoples human rights are, we should all understand and respect the rights of eachother...its a pity we have to have a bunch of over the top mad people constantly insisting on what everyones rights should be- even criminals.

in holland it kinda sucked...

for example, the last most stupid thing that happened in holland was that 3 criminals were realeased from jail, because the judge didn't seem to have the right to do some things, can't realy explain it in english, anyway, they let the 3 criminals go because of a bad judge, yet, a few days after they started thinking "but now there are 3 criminals running lose" i believe one of em was a killer too, and of course those criminals are out of the country emediatly after beeing released...

the cops themselves have no power or whatsoever, they carry guns, yet can't use em, not even to shoot in a leg, they'll be put to court to see if the shot was the right thing to do...

if a cop hurts a criminal, the criminal has the right to sue the police officer... so if a robber runs away, the police officer tackles him, and hurted the criminal with the tackle... the police officer is wrong...

here in portugal, i'm not sure about the justice system... what i understood is that they usually put entire names in newspapers, if it was a pedofile, the people themselves will take care of it...

here, living in a small town, their might be 200,000 people in my whole county. The justice system here works. The majority of the crimes comitted here are usually drug related. mostly posesstion. we've had maybe 5 murders county wide in like 10 years. the thing you have to watch for tho is the speed traps, sobriety check points (rare), and domestic disputes.

Hehe, well it exists but I can't really say since crime is everywhere. I do know that when I watch the local news someone was killed or just robbed about 5 times per week. I just stay out of the problem areas and do not go hang out downtown on the weekend.

I don't like America's justice system its really messed up not only does it let criminals get off really easy children who need help just managed to "Slip" through the cracks like this one little girl who despite the blatant evidence of abuse didn't get any help and was killed by her father.
