The Girl With The Dragon Tatooo... Remake?
So for those who have seen the The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and it's sequels... Let it be known that Hollywood has decided to "remake" the films.... My guess is that it is for the ignorant masses who don't want to see a dubbed film or see a subtitled film.
Now the director for the film is the same one who directed The Social Network. I've heard that movie got good reviews and was generally well acted. The guy in this new film is Daniel Craig so it could be good. The Female lead is played by a girl from The Social Network.
Here is the imdb page:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568346/
Thoughts on a Hollywood remake of a movie that the world already loved?

havent seen it yet
although i do plan on seeing the series dubbed
but like the ring
the grudge
let the right one in
and ....almost EVERY other movie, it will become americanized and ruin the whole movie, the plot, the feel, the drama, i wouldnt be surprised if they changed the whoe story making the chick a happy highschooler, trying to get some overly attractive blonde kid to date her with lots of singing and camp dancing inbetween, perhaps throw in some overly dramatic uneeded explosions for no reason and still call it the girl with the dragon tatoo...
i cannot stand most american remakes of most movies, daniel craig will probably be the only good thing about it XD
at leats i guess they will get the story out to people who have not read the books and will not watch a dubbed film

I agree with Arc!
I only watched the first part, subtitled in a theater and it was... very difficult to watch. The only movie so far that made me close my eyes just because it was too hard to see some of the scenes, so I guess it was good, but still. I liked it with all the conflicted emotions it brought to me and I loved the way it ended, but it made me stay away from watching the following parts or read the books. Sadly I don't think a Hollywood remake could make me feel this way and the whole thing will be ruined.
I think its sequels will be the next movies I watch.

I only watched the remake and didn't see what all the hype was about so I guess you are right, Hollywood ruined it, but I can't accurately compare the two even if I saw the original because I find I miss too much of the actors screen time (emotional reactions, etc) when I spend most of the movie reading the conversations.
Hollywood has been ruining movies for decades in their quest to target the largest audience possible, rate everything PG-13 and use formulas for success to meet a bottom line somewhere. Bring on the independents.
