The Coliseum (Characters and Story)
No one could start a coliseum in modern days. The laws are too vigilant even in the most hostile of countries. Or, at least, that's what you thought. Before you ended up right in the middle of a real coliseum in the United States of America...
The Coliseum works by posing as a re-enactment event. every year more and more come to watch it. Some think that it is fake, but a masterful performance because of how realistic it looks. Others know the truth, and enjoy it anyway. There is no inbetween. If you don't enjoy the sight of people killing one another in real life, then they will have a bribed expert illusionist explain away any of the "tricks" after the "show". And the beauty of a modern day coliseum is the technology. They can let the audience hear and see anything the gladiators are doing in the middle of a battle. Anything that they want them to hear and see, at least. And of course, why would anyone think that someone was sick enough to get people to fight with axes, swords, and hammers to the death in an arena? Especially when some of the people who had "died" make further appearances in the Coliseum. Although... what they don't know is there is a special fake way of "killing" combatants that the gladiators choose to spare...
But where would such a place get fighters? Well, it takes in able-bodied volunteers who are not likely to be missed, of course. But also, it takes prisoners from jails who are not likely to be missed or who they can justifiably say could have died in prison. It didn't matter if it was jaywalking or murder, they took whoever they could from the prison systems. They are all promised something when they enter the Coliseum. If they win, they can have a brand new life and start over as a new person out in the world, and whatever that may entail included. If they were a prisoner, they would be freed and have all their crimes "vanish". If they were not, then they would be able to be an honored guest and be able to watch the Coliseum for the rest of their lives. But there was something else that either prisoner or volunteer would get. Money. The winner of the Coliseum will receive one million US dollars.

Name: Noel Hammond

Appearance: A relatively coif looking young man in his early 20's. At first look Noel does not appear to be a great fighter, he is a small under built man with light brown hair. His eyes are a pale green which appear to stare into space.
Weapon of Choice: Double Bladed Glaive, or any other pole based blade weapon.
Prisoner or Volunteer?: Volunteer
Biography: Noel has been fighting since he could stand, due to his small stature he was constantly attacked. This made him able to hold out on his own. After growing up knowing nothing but fighting he failed academically, and drifted through life getting by on cage matches. He found out about the Coliseum some time ago and decided that it was a perfect fit.

Weapon of Choice: Carries a Bow, but never any arrows. Mainly uses unarmed combat or uses the bow as a blunt weapon.

Biography: Mike has always been... different. He has problems distinguishing fantasy with reality. He has been diagnosed with a severe case of paranoid schizophrenia and often behaves and acts in ways that don't make sense to anyone else. After playing a good many video games, he became utterly convinced that this world was a video game in and of itself. He volunteered for the Coliseum thinking that it might finally be the "Main Questline" that he has been looking for.
