Halo2 was good. but not the best.
UT2k4 is very fun at LAN parties. but lacks in the single player department
Halflife 2 is good. but really the engine is where the money maker is.
F.E.A.R runs slow on my computer
Quake4 wont run on my computer 
Deus Ex was F***N AWESOME. but the multiplayer dident captivate me.
DOOM I&II kicked major ass. they still do today.
Id say the best FPS is DOOM I&II (+TnT&Plutionia) if you play with 3 buddies on Insane Difficulty and increased speed demons.
or just on hard, its all good.
Too bad my Doom95 wont work over the internet or i'd ask you guys to play with me already. (i have NO clue where i got it, but its a copy of DOOM I&II that works on XP and has all the games+Multiplayer and mods, if they released the source code officially, ill make it a torrent and offer it for download.)

I'm liking F.E.A.R, realy twisted story. kinda reminds me of the old silent hill game, the original silent hill mind you, not these latest hacks.
as for my vote, i'd have to say halo2, just cause me and my roomates play it so much.

oh yea forgot about Goldeneye, Goldeneye's a great game i used to always be playing on multi with my mates. Shame the new goldeneye wasent as good.

Goldeneye was the best for it's time. It's still fun.
Killzone on PS2 is good, in terms of sound, graphics and making you feel as if you're in a real battlefield.
I've heard good things about Call of Duty but never played it.

Yeah I play and like all of the games everyone has mentioned, but I was just so shocked at how great Goldeneye was. You could complete a mission in about 15 creative ways. Either go in guns blazing, using all bombs, running through, kniving everyone, sneaking past people, then you have the 50 unlockable secrets that were fun, customize your own enemy AI and difficulty, tons and tons of guns, tons of levels, the rumble feature was the best out of any game ever, when you shot a small gun there was a tiny vibration, and a huge rocket the vibration was really strong, then the machine gun vibrated so much you could hardly aim straight which was realistic.
I loved the music, levels, control, multiplayer, the game was perfect.

There have been so many good FPS, and they really are my favourite video game genre. Golden Eye was good, but I was never any good at it, and usually ended up being just a target for my college buddies. Some of my favourites include:
1) Alien vs Predator: Gold
2) Dark Forces: Jedi Knight
3) Counter Strike: Source
4) The original Medal of Honor for PS1
5) Perfeck Dark
6) Unreal Tournament

Yep its way better than Halo 2 most games are they said they were putting in ATVs and many other things and they didnt. I didnt like the story either.

from what i've read, Bungie's deadline was fast aproaching . they had to cut tons of stuff. also heard a "rumor" that the next halo will be halo 2.5. don't know if there's any truth to it, but i sure hope they do a better job with the story than the last.

why are people complaining that there wasnt an ATV?
if you think about it. it would have just been a 1 person Warthog, that had no weapons.
it wouldent have been used in multiplayer (Ghost kicks its ass) and overall it would have just gotten in the way.
they cut alot of things for two big reasons:
1: they dident have a practical application in the game (like the riding of the creature idea, and the ATV)
2: It used up so much resources, it just wasent worth it (Ala Flamethrower, the code is actually in the game, its just disabled. much like how the sex scene is hidden in GTA)

So lots of folks here seam to like Golden Eye. What is everybody's favourite Multiplayer character? For me...the horrid homicidal furry of Scientist #2 can't be beat. Death wears a lab big white lab coat!
