Lets take Neo-Exdeath for an example.
I had two fighters and two mages. My two fighters, on average, did 2000 damage with each hit with X-Attack, and attacked 8 times. My summoners used double-Holy on Exdeath, and double-Bahamut on Neo-Exdeath. They did 3000 damage to each part of Neo-Exdeath with each summon, so 12000 damage per summon, and 24000 damage total. The fighters did 16000 damage total.
Now this would make you think that fighters are useless. However, consider the MP of the mages. They had less than 400 MP, I think. If each bahamut cast costs 60 MP, they can't pull off their 24000 damage deal more than 3 times before having to use an elixir...hey WAIT! They can't use elixirs, cause they don't have an item command! Hmm, that means the fighters have to do it, eh? Also, for those who are thinking I should just mimic the spell constantly, well, remember that the spellcasters also have to heal themselves, revive the dead, cure those with status-ailments, and the like, so I couldn't mimic too often.
And of course, when parts of Neo-Exdeath start dying off, the fighters start to do more damage.
Well, I just don't like the enormous 120 MP cost of the bahamut double-cast, AND the fact that the spellcasters can't then heal themselves. If the fighters couldn't heal them, then who would?
I'm just saying this stuff because I'll soon have to fight the bonus enemies in the GBA version, and they're tougher. Much, much tougher.

I think that you didnīt understand that I said that when you use mimic, you DONīT use MP, so you can just do 24000 damage per turn every turn, and that way you kill him in no time... And of course, donīt forget you can use Haste2 on your party to make things faster (48000 damage per turn=2 turns to victory=unless youīre really unlucky, all of your chars survive)
I agree that fighters are better against single targets, but not against multiple targets.

Well, the last boss is easy anyways...I'll see what the Special Dungeon is like.
By the way, do you know how much HP the last boss has? That would help. Couldn't find it anywhere.

I seen it somewhere... If my memory doesnīt fail, his HP is:
The right-most part: 55k
The upper-most and the lower most parts: 60k
The leftern-most part: 65k
That would make a total of 220k, and thatīs a lot

Well, I guess it's a tactic to try to kill the dude ASAP, with four mages doublecasting Bahamut for a total damage of about 100k per turn...except, well, in two full turns that boss may be able to do something really bad to your party, as he has quite a few irritating abilities....
Casting haste and having mastered thief for all four characters may also help. I haven't been able to play too much, so can't really test it out.

Anyway, Haste isnīt essential... It just ensures the victory... Since his first attack is ALWAYS Almagest, you should have your HP high before starting to summon... And well, if you arenīt fast youīre ruined... After casting Almagest, you get terribly damaged... Some ablities such as Magic Barrier automatically activate... And then when you use the mimic command you mimic that... Still, if youīre fast enough, that shouldnīt happen... Another techniques that can put a hurt on you are: Vacumn Wave (basically kills a character) and Grand Cross (I HATE this one... It causes you several stats)
Thatīs why I think, that if you donīt beat him fast, he is the hardest final boss ever.

If you wait till Grand Cross, your winning or losing basically depends on what status ailments you get. If they're darn bad, you're screwed. If you can pull through them, great! I mean, if you have all your spellcasters berserked and your fighters are zombies, you can't do anything, and probably won't win either.
So he doesn't become the hardest last boss, just one who makes you depend on luck more than on anything else. Which sucks for some people, I guess.

The battle music is cool...
|
"I don't think you're supposed to smoke during class."
"This isn't a cigarette. It's just a lollipop."
"Lollipops don't make any smoke."
"No, that's just 'cause it's so lollied."
