I've played Tales of the Abyss and the japanese version of Tales of Legendia (don't ask me how I did it) and find the games are great in terms of battle system, graphics, storyline and sound.
One thing caught my eye was the "Synopsis" feature in Tales of the Abyss, I find it really useful especially when you're lost or stuck somewhere in the game. Through the synopsis we can learn where to do next. Another thing I enjoyed abt Tales is the ability to avoid battles especially when you're looking for something, far more better than random battles.
If you ask me, I find Tales of the Abyss the most interesting so far since I haven't really completed Tales of Destiny 2 and Tales of Ethernia (sp?).
Tales games are really good. If you liked those I would suggest Tales of Symphonia. It is an excellent, well made game. Buy the Game Cube version if you can. The PS2 version kind of ruined that game.
I personally haven't played any of the PS2 counter parts, though, I have been meaning to.
Ive never played a Tales of game but for those interested there is a new one being made called Tales of Vesperia which looks like it will be on the PS3 and 360 atm.
Is the PS2 version newly released or something? Cuz I can't find the game anywhere nearby my place, but maybe they have it at some big game shopping places.
It actually came out a few months after the GC version did.
It will probably be kind of hard to find in a local game store.
Edit: That's odd. I can't find it on Amazon or anything, and I checked Wiki, and now it says it only came out in Japan on the PS2. Even though I know I had seen it at my local Blockbuster a couple of times.
Looks like either you're going to have to import it, and not be able to enjoy the story, or else, buy a cheap, used GC, get a controller, and buy the game.
Costs a bit more, but it will be worth it.
